A set of powerful and maniacal live sound sources from the "VOODOO LOUNGE" tour is now available. The 1994 dates of the tour went around the United States and ended in Canada to finish the schedule. It was a tour date that continued through December, including a series of performances in Auckland during the last week of October. Originally, Oakland was the birthplace of the legendary “LIVE’R THAN YOU’LL EVER BE” LP. Since then, it has been chosen as the final stop of the 1978 tour, and although it is not as strong as LA Forum or MSG, it is a place that has a deep connection with the Stones. In 1994, four concerts were held here in October, but a professional shot of the venue screen for the final performance on the 31st was leaked early in the tour. As a result, it became the representative video and soundboard sound source of the 1994 tour, and as a result, there has been no release of the other three performances to this day, and some traders have been disseminating the 1994 audience recording. However, there were only sound sources on the market that had poor sound quality. However, this time, we have released a complete set of Oakland 94, which covers those three performances and the audience recording on the final day, which will be the first appearance. What is used in this release is a DAT tape audience recording obtained exclusively by our store, which was not even available among traders. These were recorded by Japanese Stones maniacs who went to see the four performances in Auckland. On the 1994 tour, most of the participants from Japan were in Washington, D.C., on the first day, and at Giants Stadium, where we had previously released videos and radio recordings, but he held all of them in Oakland, the middle of the tour. I'm watching a performance. Although these sound sources were left over from such events, the reason why his sound sources did not circulate among traders and remained dormant for twenty years was because he used his own sound sources for tape trading using DAT, which was popular at the time. Rather, I recorded it because I wanted to keep it as a memory of the live performance I went all the way to Oakland to see. This is the sound source that boasts the volume of four performances that will be realized on CD after 20 years, but among them, the sound source that will receive a lot of attention from fans around the world will be the first performance in Oakland on October 26th. Just by listening to the SE playing at the venue before the Stones appeared, it is shocking how close you can feel the power of the sound image. The sound quality is by far the highest quality among the four performances discovered this time, and it is surprising that such a superb level of DAT audience recording has remained dormant for a long time even at modern Stones live performances. yeah. Since the sound board recordings appeared at a fast pace in the 1994 tour, starting with the TV broadcast in Miami at the end, there is a feeling that the audience recording items and releases were concentrated in the first half of the schedule. Washington, D.C., on the first day, where the battle for speed of release was heated rather than quality, was the best example, but thanks to that, audience recordings that were outstanding in terms of quality did not appear easily. If this sound source had been released in 1994, it would have undoubtedly been the best audience recording of the tour. However, its powerful superb sound quality has not faded at all even if you listen to it now, 20 years later. There is one other thing worth mentioning about the first day's live performance. It was a wonderful performance by Mick. Speaking of Mick's extraordinary power when he started singing the opening song "Not Fade Away"! (lol). Mick puts so much effort into it that the melody becomes questionable...it's the best. From there, he literally sang a series of passionate songs. Even regular repertoire songs like "Tumbling Dice" are so hot that you can understand them at first listen. The performances of songs such as "Shattered" are so energetic that it's as if the ghost of 1978 has descended, and even "Miss You", which is played every night, has Mick singing with more passion than usual. Since it has been captured, this is a real masterpiece. On the other hand, Keith has been called “exhausted” by Mick throughout this tour, and his unrestrained freedom is on full display here. In particular, on ``The Worst,'' he plays a fluent flamenco-style phrase before starting the performance, but the song itself is interesting because it starts over with the intro. After all, Keith is the best. However, the Stones' voltage centered on Mick continues to rise throughout the live show, and with this release, a new masterpiece will be revealed! The recordings from the other days may have been due to the taper position or the compatibility with the sound output from the venue, but the first half is not as powerful as the first day, but the sound quality of each performance has improved dramatically and is still wonderful. You can thoroughly enjoy the Oakland live performance other than the last day, which is a missing link that you could not listen to before with the sound quality. As I listened to Mick's songs from the second day's performance, I realized that this was the atmosphere of a normal Stones live performance. I am reminded of this, but each day will feature wonderful performances and scenes that you cannot miss. On the second day, “Wild Horses” appeared as a slow number part. Moreover, in front of that performance, there is a scene where Mick whispers “sad songs all I know…” and is reminiscent of the ’75 tour. If you're an enthusiast, you'll be able to smile. On the third day, Ronnie plays an unusually good solo in “Beast Of Burden” as an interlude, and you can enjoy the exquisite play with the on-sound image. It was a good flow to continue from there to "Memory Motel", which was also the highlight repertoire of this tour, but halfway through, Keith's singing became questionable... (lol). And it's the fourth day, but it's also the day when the pro shot video from above is famous. This day was October 31st, Halloween, which has now become very popular in Japan. If you look at the video, you can see that the Stones were conscious of Halloween during their live performance, with Ronnie wearing red horns on stage. Please enjoy. Among the four days of sound sources this time, the recording condition is a little inferior to the other days in terms of sound image and power, but the sense of reality is outstanding. The atmosphere of the day, which is completely different from the sound board recording of the video, which was fatally lacking, is indescribably fresh. For example, the excitement that rises at the part of "Shattered" that says "Don't you know the crime rate is going up, up, up, up, up" is a sense of realism that could not be conveyed from the sound board sound source. Of course, you cannot exclude the sound board sound source of October 31st from this set. This is the first time it has appeared, and it may seem like a bonus when there are so many valuable audience recordings, but the sound has a unique charm with real stereo clarity that is different from multi-track live recordings. This is a board sound source. When recording this time, there was no need to make any changes to that wonderful clearness. In fact, by correcting the localization seen in past items, it was recorded for the first time with the classic balance of Stones sound sources with Keith's sound on the right. Masu. Moreover, although it is a sound board with the highest quality sound, it has recently become surprisingly difficult to listen to. Alameda County Coliseum, Oakland, CA.
