This is a recording of a Rolling Stones special broadcast on June 1st of 1977 on "Rock On," a rock radio program popular in the Kanto region. This was the first of five British sound specials broadcast in June as part of the "British Monthly" series. The master is an air check tape from that time, but the sound quality is very good. Unfortunately, the opening was not received, so the show starts straight away with Come On. The show explains the history of the Stones along with their songs, with three interviews with Mick interspersed throughout. The 17th track is "Unreleased Live from the Time of Mick Taylor," and includes the 1973 Brussels performance, which is well known from bootlegs, giving a sense of the era. In the MC (Trk15) just before that, the DJ makes a comment that is typical of this time: "Ron Wood is currently the lead guitarist, and the new album with him as an official member is said to be a live recording, but the details are still unknown." The album is composed of the best of the best, so rock fans at the time will fondly recall collecting information by recording these programs in addition to music magazines. In the commercials, you can hear the announcement of Roy Buchanan's concert that was about to be held in the same month. The explanations and commercials from that time convey the atmosphere of the nostalgic era, and for fans who spent their youth in that era, it is a really fun album that allows you to immerse yourself in a little time slip. There is nothing new in terms of content, but it is a title that can be enjoyed by anyone, even if you are not a Stones fan. The Stones special is about 54 minutes long, and the last 10 minutes are an additional recording of the second part of "Rock On". Compared to the fun but serious first part, this second part is quite humorous. On this day, the show was broadcast under the title "Rock Yamanote Line Tour," and you can listen to the outrageous plan of broadcasting songs that evoke the image of Yamanote Line stations, one at a time, according to their own interpretation. The show begins with the Eagles' "Hotel California" as the setting is the hotel district of Shin-Okubo, which may seem a bit pushy, but it could also be said to be a valuable example of the kind of programming from the time that gives you a sense of the anything-goes fun of the 1970s.
