“TAMPA 1994 REMASTER”, which was released as the first version of the Stones live stereo soundboard recording released by the nostalgic “CONCERT VAULT” site, has been very well received. The site that released the most sound sources was the 1981 American tour. I was also surprised that all of them were rough mix sound sources that seemed to have been prepared for radio from multi-track recordings rather than sound boards with PA outputs. A large amount of sound sources that could be called a treasure trove were released. At the time, while they had a huge impact on enthusiasts around the world, they were not without their problems. For example, in the case of the previous "TAMPA 1994 REMASTER", troubles that occurred on stage were recorded, and at the time of release, it was misunderstood as noise, but on the other hand, noise was clearly mixed in. There was also. That's 1981 Sun Devil Stadium, which is being reissued this week. It was famous among enthusiasts as the day when the outdoor venue location shooting for the movie "LET'S SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER" took place. In the late 1990s, the VGP label became even more popular among enthusiasts with the release of "SATISFACTION GUARANTEED" (hereinafter referred to as the previously released version), which was based on a multi-track recording that seemed to have been made for movie audio. On this day, the CONCERT VAULT site achieved a unique status, but this version of the CONCERT VAULT site was created from multi-tracks for radio broadcasting, which has a different purpose. Although it is a rough mix, it is originally a multi-track recording, so the stereo separation of Keith and Ronnie's guitars is perfect, and at first glance, you can enjoy the sound quality on par with the official live album. , and above all, there was the problem that the last two songs were not included on the previously released edition, so we finally released it as ``PHOENIX 1981'' because we could hear all the performances at Sun Devil Stadium on the splendid stereo sound board, and it became an instant hit. It became such a masterpiece that it sold out in no time. However, this wonderful sound source contained extra noise. It happened between "Shattered" and "Neighbours," when Mick was in the middle of MCing when a "bibibi..." sound like radio waves was heard from the left channel. Judging from the type of noise, it is clear that it was not in the original recording, but was clearly a noise that occurred when it was uploaded to the site or converted into a file for upload. However, the most noise was between songs and had nothing to do with the performance. Therefore, when we released "PHOENIX 1981" in 2013, we released it as is without making any adjustments to this area, but we still received complaints from enthusiasts that the noise was bothersome... . Therefore, when the title "PHOENIX 1981" was released by the DAC label, the noise was eliminated by making use of the undamaged right channel. Although this did make it possible to enjoy the music without noise, since only the right channel was recorded, only that part was in monaural. As mentioned above, the original is a high-quality stereo sound board, so when it becomes monaural, a different sense of discomfort arises. Therefore, for this reissue, the stereo sound source for the movie from the previous release was patched into Mick's MC part where the noise occurs. This adjustment made it possible to listen to the entire story without noise while maintaining stereo. In other words, this reissue is an updated version of Sun Devil Stadium's radio sound source rough mix using the best possible combination. After all, the famous soundboard album, which is originally at the official level and can be recommended not only by enthusiasts but all fans with confidence, will finally appear in its strongest condition for the first time in a long time. Also, “PHOENIX 1981” was released in 2013. It is also a title that has long since become a rare item for people other than enthusiasts who were lucky enough to get it in a real tie. That's why there are many enthusiasts who have been looking forward to this reissue. As I mentioned at the beginning, not only recording was done, but even filming for the movie took place on that day. In this case, the Stones' performance is filled with enthusiasm...It is also the charm of this day that you can listen to the best sound quality as you think that it has been thrown off everywhere. The best masterpiece of Happening is ``Let It Bleed'', in which Mick kept singing the same lyrics over and over again, causing the performance itself to become chaotic. Furthermore, it is typical of the Stones that there are many mistakes that can be seen in live performances that were officially filmed, such as ``Brown Sugar'' where Keith started with a mysterious intro that could be mistaken for ``Eh, a new song?''. And this time, there is a reason why the title changes from Phoenix to Tempi. In fact, the venue, Sun Devil Stadium, was not located in Phoenix. Of course, it was in the same state of Arizona, but the venue was actually in Tempe. Geographically, Phoenix is next door, so it can be said that it can't be helped that Mick kept calling him "Phoenix" during the live performance. This was similar to misunderstanding Machida City as "Kanagawa Prefecture". Sun Devil Stadium has been given a long-awaited upgrade. In the second half of the 1981 tour, the entire live show progresses at a good tempo that is unique to Tempi, while capturing the above-mentioned heart-wrenching incident with the highest sound quality. This is the definitive edition that not only eliminates the abnormal noise that was on the 2013 edition, but also allows you to finally enjoy the entire live performance with complete stereo sound!
