The 1982 version of "SUPERGROUPS IN CONCERT" was a live album of the official live album "STILL LIFE", so if the album became popular among fans, the value of the broadcast would be halved. So, on March 19, 1983, half a year after the 1982 version was broadcast, a revised version of "SUPERGROUPS IN CONCERT" was broadcast. Just before the broadcast, the live movie of the 1981 tour "LET'S SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER" was released in the United States, and the Stones also wanted to bring the 1981 US tour into the limelight. The very groundbreaking thing about the 1983 version was that the "STILL LIFE" sound source was largely deleted, and instead, new 1981 tour takes were used abundantly for this program. Although the 1982 version had value as a complement to the album, the fact that it overlapped with the album quickly became a major negative point. That's why the re-broadcast was a great delight for enthusiasts. The broadcast at this time produced nostalgic LP bootlegs such as "MISSION DIRECT HITS" and "ON TOP OF OLD SMOKEY". What stood out in particular about the former was the unique editing sense in which the 1978 sound source was mixed in with the 1981 take, even though it was from the same American tour. When "MISSION DIRECT" was released, it was likely to be mistaken for a padded recording, which is common in boots, but in fact it was a strange edit that included a live performance from a different era from the time of broadcast. In addition, the pitch is high here as well. Nevertheless, there were many enthusiasts who loved the items listed here because they could listen to the performance of the 1981 tour, which is different from "STILL LIFE", with the highest quality of stereo soundboard recording. Even so, not only the high pitch but also the editing that incorporated live performances from a different era was a major drawback of the 1983 version. There was a different drop from the 1982 broadcast version. There were no interviews with the people involved that were inserted to interrupt the flow of the live performance like in the 1982 version, and it was a pity that the stereo soundboard recording of the 1981 tour was made purely with a drastic reduction in overlap with "STILL LIFE". However, as for the program this time, Clear Mountain was in charge of the remix, so the finish of each adopted take is excellent. Many of the takes recorded here are now available in full length on the "CONCERT VAULT" site, but whereas they were rough mixes, here you can enjoy the overwhelmingly complete mix by Clear Mountain. For example, in the previous recording of "Let It Bleed" in New Orleans on December 5th, Ian Stewart's piano sounded on the right side with a balance that seemed to be pushed aside by Keith, but here it is separated to the left and clearly expresses its presence, so it is as expected. The wonderful mix represented by this "Let It Bleed" is unique to radio show recordings, and the natural feeling enclosed in the LP at that time is also wonderful. For this release, just like the 1982 version, the original broadcast master LP was meticulously traced. It is the best item that plays back the 1983 broadcast in a clean state without scratch noise and with accurate pitch. Of course, you can also enjoy comparing it with the 1982 version!
