The first complete CD pressing of The Rolling Stones, the first album of the Stones, released in West Germany, is now available! This work was released on CD in June 1984 (England's Newest Hit Makers, the first US release, was released on CD in 1986). In the same year, Mobile Fidelity released the original album box set of the Stones' Decca/London period, which was a box set that mixed the UK and US original albums. It is said that the Decca/London period CD released in 1984 used the master created by Mobile at that time, but this first pressing does not have this notation, and the 12x5 released in the same year has a credit to Mobile, so there are some mysterious parts. This first complete pressing has a unique feature: the London Records logo printed on the label side of the disc is the old-style red and black London Records logo (which was often used at the time). It is also incorrectly written as STEREO (as you know, only a MONO version of this album exists). From the discs re-pressed in September of the same year, the London Records logo was changed to a blue and red box with the London Records logo. The 12x5 was released at the same time in September, but this one has a Mobil credit and a logo with a blue and red box, and this label design was used for all Stones works from then on (until the remastered version by Bob Ludwig was released in 2002). Another feature is that the case is what is called a smooth case, which has no jagged edges on the top and bottom. Another interesting point is that the top right corner of the jacket says "digitally remastered in 1984". The CD in this smooth case is one of the earliest CDs. This CD was also released in Japan with a sticker and commentary. It is well known that the first domestic release is a rare edition, but this West German edition is also a rare item that is rarely seen these days. As for the sound source, a nice touch today is that Tell Me is recorded in the version that ended suddenly at just over four minutes, which was familiar in the record era, but in the pressings from the late '80s it was replaced with a version that fades out (incidentally, is it possible that the master of the so-called demo version, which was only included on the first pressing of the UK analog version, still exists?).
