Rod Stewart in the early 70's was able to balance THE FACES and solo work. The official visual anthology of that era has been decided to be released. The true identity of this work is the official video work "VIDEO BIOGRAPHY 1969-1974". This work was released in 1988, at a time when video software for home use was proliferating, and as the title suggests, it is a collection of videos up to the early 1970s. Of course, as was the fate of video works at the time, it was quickly discontinued. Although it was made into a DVD in 2004, it seems to have been distributed semi-officially in some parts of Europe. This work is a copy of such a DVD. . . Rather, it is a detailed reprint from the Japanese laser disc released at the time. The quality is, of course, completely official. Although it exceeds VHS in terms of pixels, the visual beauty that reproduces even the graininess of film shooting is extremely beautiful even to the eyes of today's digital age. Unlike tape, there is no twisting or uneven running, and there is no deterioration over time. Even if the original film of the video still existed, it would not have preserved the beauty that it has... The images are so fresh that they come out one after another that make you think so. With such amazing preservation power, the shining rod that was still in its 20s has been brought back to life in modern times. In fact, the structure of this work is a little unusual, and although the concept is a historical one that focuses on the time, there are no interviews or historical narrations. The performance scenes are simply arranged in chronological order. It is also a so-called clip collection structure, but at that time there was no such thing as MTV, so various live videos were used (co-starring with Keith Richards was also adopted). We will talk about Rod's career as he rose to stardom with historical live pro shots that are familiar to fans. If the BBC were to make a special program about Rod in just one hour, it would be something like this...It's a truly British work, both in terms of the quality of the footage and the sense of composition. Now, let's organize the important songs here. ・1970: First Step (1 song) Three Button Hand Me Down ★1970: Gasoline Alley (2 songs) It's All Over Now/Gasoline Alley ★1971: Every Picture Tells a Story (2 songs) ) Maggie May/(I Know) I'm Losing You・1971: Long Player (1 song) I Feel So Good・1971: Nembutsu in the Horse's Ears (4 songs) Memphis Tennessee/Stay With Me/Miss Judy's Farm/That's All You Need ★1972: Never a Dull Moment (4 songs) I'd Rather Go Blind/True Blue/You Wear It Well/Angel 1973: Woo La La (1 song) Cindy Incidentally ・1973: Single (1 song) Pool Hall Richard ★1974: Smiler (1 song) Sweet Little Rock 'N' Roller ・1974: Single (1 song) You Can Make Me Dance, Sing Or Anything *Note : "・" mark is THE FACES, "★" mark is rod solo. ...and it looks like this. There is no distinction between THE FACES/Solo, it is just a chronological composition. Nowadays, the order of the works tends to get confused, but the flow is clearly visible. In the early 70's, Rod Stewart was surrounded by the aura of a star, both as a soloist and as the frontman of THE FACES. This is a superb video collection that precisely reproduces that brilliance from the Japanese laser disc. A single live video is wonderful, but the compilation is so diverse that you can enjoy it over and over again without getting bored. A piece full of such fun.
