He grew up in a musical family, with his father being a pianist and his mother being an organist. At the age of 15, he won an outstanding performance at the Black Piano Competition, entered Howard University, studied classical music and vocal music, and made his debut on the prestigious Atlantic Records in 1969. It was held in July 1972, when Flack's debut work ``Love Is in the Face'' was used in a movie, became No. 1 in the United States, and even won a Grammy Award. This is the first release of a two-disc set that includes a live performance at the Newport Jazz Festival in New York and a performance at the Springfield Civic Center in Massachusetts in October of the same year, both recorded on an extremely high-quality stereo soundboard. ! The set list does not overlap even a single song in both performances, and the participating members are also the best, and at Newport in July, Richard Tee of Banmas, Eric Gale on guitar, Ralph McDonald on percussion, electric bass. The lineup includes Jerry Jemmott on acoustic bass, Terry Plumeri on acoustic bass, and Grady Tate on drums, and they performed a total of five songs, including Flack's famous song "Where Is the Love" and a cover of Leonard Cohen. In Springfield in October, Tee, Gail, and McDonald were the same as in Newport, Plumeri was in charge of cello, Chuck Rainey was on bass, and Rick Marotta was on drums, even though only three months had passed. It's interesting that they are moving towards music that is more similar to the New Soul of the time. Disc 1 Live at Newport Jazz Festival New York,New York,NY July.8.1972 1. Introduction 2.
