Marco Moa's 1985 albums for The Farm, "L.A. FORUM 1985" and "COSTA MESA 1985," demonstrate his dedication to recording at the LA Forum first, followed by further refinements in Costa Mesa. This formula ensured his Costa Mesa recordings consistently delivered exceptionally high quality with a close sound image. Thankfully, not only The Farm but also Robert Plant toured Costa Mesa after the LA Forum, and once again, the quality of Marco Moa's recordings, unique to this location, exploded! Just as the quality of The Farm's "COSTA MESA 1985" stunned enthusiasts, this release once again generated an ultra-close sound image, creating a truly captivating ultra-audience. Even so, the sound image is incredibly close. Had this recording been released as a real-time LP bootleg, it would undoubtedly have been heralded as a "soundboard." This time, the sound is so close that there are some parts where the volume is a little saturated, but it actually seems even more powerful. It's not just the sound image that's so close it could be mistaken for a soundboard, but the sound quality itself is of outstanding quality, even among the 1985 "SHAKEN 'N' STIRRED" albums. It's easy to imagine that if this sound source had been released at the time, it would have been the definitive version without complaint. With such a transcendent audience, the overwhelming proximity of the sound image, let alone that of 1985, still remains. And yet, by adjusting the high pitch typical of more recordings for release, it's finally in the best condition for listening with peace of mind. Speaking of the "SHAKEN 'N' STIRRED" tour, there's a nice contrast between the '80s-esque synth-pop-heavy performance up until the middle of the live show, which featured songs from the album, and the oldies set in the latter half of the live show, which was introduced following the huge success of the previous year's "THE HONEYDRIPPERS: VOLUME ONE" EP. The synth-heavy "SHAKEN 'N' STIRRED" album itself was more popular in the US than in the UK, but it's no wonder that Honey Drippers Corner was a hit with oldies-loving Americans. As was the case at the LA Forum, this section was a huge hit. In fact, the audience enthusiasm in the Oldies Corner was even more intense than at the Forum, and the sound image of the performance was even larger, a testament to More's recordings. Plant and the band themselves clearly seemed to be enjoying Honey Drippers Corner, a quality that's typical of More recordings. In fact, Plant's excitement singing the oldies on this day surpassed even the LA Forum. This stark contrast in the setlist was also a charming part of the "SHAKEN 'N' tour," but its appeal was difficult to capture due to the lack of releases at the time. Forty years have passed since that tour, and More, the master of '80s Zeppelin solos, has delivered the ultimate audience recording! Miraculously, ultra-high-quality sound! The best sounding Marco Moir recording! Pacific Amphitheater, Costa Mesa, CA, USA 18th June 1985 ULTIMATE SOUND Disc:1 (68:34) 1. In the Mood 2. Pledge Pin 3. Pink & Black 4. Doo Doo a Do Do 5.
