BLACKMORE'S NIGHT has been Ritchie Blackmore's life work for about 19 years now. In ``KOBE 1997,'' which records the third performance of Richie's debut, we present a Japanese TV special program that featured Richie's career at the time. This work also includes some bonus footage, but the main one is the Ritchie Blackmore edition of Ongakujo group "THE BEATFILE". It consists of performance scenes and clips of DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW, and BLACKMORE'S NIGHT, and interviews for about an hour. Although the live performances and clips are full performances of the entire song, they are familiar. The lifeblood of this work is the interviews. This is also the best, revealing DEEP PURPLE's musical style and the origins of their famous songs. From the first voice, he reveals, ``I wanted to make a sound like VANILLA FUDGE or MOUNTAIN.It's like playing a MOUNTAIN song with the sound of VANILLA FUDGE.'' Afterwards, we will look back on history, including some famous episodes, but the most powerful part is the story behind the birth of a famous song. It would be interesting to just talk about the fourth harmonies of ``Mandrake Root'' and ``Smoke On The Water'' and the circumstances in which they were written, but he even reveals the original source of the song. “Black Night” came from Ricky Nelson’s “Summer Time,” “Speed King” came from Jimi Hendrix’s “Stone Free” + “Fire,” “Lazy” came from CREAM’s “Steppin’ Out,” and so on. Also, Ritchie himself explains it in detail while playing the original song and his own composition on the guitar. Around this time, there was a similar confession in a certain HR/HM magazine, but I didn't expect it to be explained with the person in question playing the guitar. Moreover, Ritchie's style of speaking is very good. In ``Highway Star'', it is revealed that the arpeggio in the middle part was created in the image of Mozart, but ``(Mozart) was already dead, but no one could say that because he would get angry.'' He was confused by the unknown(?) and made fun of things like, "I stole it," and "Don't you believe it?"...it's amazing. That's an amazing video. In addition to the revelation, regarding the member change from the second period to the third period, he said, ``We tried to change direction to the blues. ``We are blues men.'' We decided that overnight. We play the blues, so we are the guys who can sing the blues. We decided to look for someone. It could be anyone." I understand what you're trying to say, but DEEP PURPLE is a bluesman... That's a line that only Richie could say. It would be interesting if the corner moved to BLACKMORE'S NIGHT. Candace and I give an interview together and talk about how our hobbies match, how much fun it is to make music together, how we met, and more. To put it bluntly, it's a random story, and normally I would want to say, "So what?", but the person telling the story is Richie. It's told with that voice, that face, and that expression, so the more you know about the past, the more the gap becomes striking. Even looking at it now, I feel dizzy. Furthermore, the scene where he explains the guitar at home is interesting. I will explain each guitar one by one, such as the story of ruining the guitar with scallops, the slide setting that made the 5th and 6th strings loose, and here too, Richie's personality explodes. His guitar has a mysterious metal part attached to its head, but he says, ``There's no meaning to it at all. I put it on to embarrass you.'' When asked, ``What is it for?'' My answer is, ``Think about it for yourself,'' but Koji reveals that he's been thinking for months that there must be something hidden.'' After the special program, in which you are at the mercy of emotions that are hard to describe, three types of bonus footage are included, totaling about 25 minutes. The first one was on a certain famous news program, when BLACKMORE'S NIGHT appeared in 1997. It consists of an interview and a live performance scene, but it also shows Richie responding one by one without losing his temper even in a harsh interview with a famous broadcaster... More than the precious performance, it is a video that moves you emotionally by the sight itself. The second bonus is the DEEP PURPLE edition of the same news program, recorded in 2000, with Steve Morse on guitar. I think it's to convey the popularity of the group, but what is the "Deep Purple on the Street Corner" project where drunk people in Shinbashi play "Smoke On The Water"? Japanese TV stations have a core program in the late night time slot, but when it comes to major programs, they end up like this. Is there nothing I can do about it? The third and last one is a TV broadcast promotional video created for DEEP PURPLE's 2000 performance in Japan. This is a professional shot live of "Speed King", "Highway Star" and "Seventh Heaven" taken at the "House of Blues" live in Los Angeles in 1998. Anyway, Ritchie Blackmore. This is a masterpiece video in which you can see plenty of him grinning, caring for his fiancée, and revealing the secret behind his famous songs. Richie is serious about doing whatever it takes to get his new project BLACKMORE'S NIGHT off the ground. Please enjoy this one that is unique to 1997.
