DEEP PURPLE's 1987 UK tour accompanying the release of "THE HOUSE OF BLUELIGHT" featured two consecutive performances at London's "Wembley Arena" on March 3rd and 4th, and two consecutive performances at the Birmingham NEC. After the five-performance schedule was completed on March 8th, the band took about a month off and prepared for the US tour starting in April. On March 10th, immediately after the end of the UK tour, Richie surprised British fans by making a full-scale guest appearance at a live performance by his old friend Jackie Linton at the "King's Head Pub" in Fulham, London. This work is a complete recording of that live performance with excellent audience recording. When it first appeared in 2001, it not only provided a sensational topic to enthusiasts, but was also highly praised by specialist magazines. When it was restocked in a limited edition the other day, it sold out in an instant, and fans strongly requested that it be released again. For this special release, the sound has been further polished, the slightly fuzzy feeling that makes you feel the era has been reduced, and the low pitch has been accurately corrected for the first time, making it the best version of the original sound source. Jackie is a blues singer who fronted SAVOY BROWN from 1972 to 1973 (the singer shortly before he joined was Dave Walker, who also participated in FLEETWOOD MAC and BLACK SABBATH). In the 1980s, he led his own band and appeared at the 1982 Reading Festival, where M.S.G. was the headliner. In this live performance, the set is solidified with rock and roll and blues standards, creating an atmosphere that is similar to the secret gigs of super-famous musicians such as Eric Clapton. You will never get tired of listening to Richie's solo backing in his own tone on a number of songs that are familiar to Western music fans. The sound quality is also outstanding for a live performance recorded in a club (pub) 25 years ago. In addition to the solid brightness, the direct feeling of the performance and the intimate mood of a club make this a high-quality source as a record or recording. The guitar tone is particularly clear, and Richie's playing, which fans are curious about, can be clearly heard throughout the entire album. In 1987, Richie had already rekindled his feud with Ian Gillan, and it seems that he was stressed by his activities in DEEP PURPLE. The relaxed and fun-looking playing that can be heard here is wonderful, as if he had been freed from that "spell". The start of the show is a little quiet, but as the live performance progresses, the playing heats up, and in the over 9-minute "White Line", he shows his true colors from the intro. The melodic guitar that dances on a monotonous rhythm progression is fascinated. In addition to "If You Wanna Get A Band Together, You Gotta Dig Rhythm & Blues" introduced by Jackie, the fun and exciting "Johnny B Good", "She's Good To Me" with its blues flavor, and "My Baby Don't Stand No Cheating" featuring former STATUS QUO drummer John Cochran are all worth listening to. The following "Blackmore Blues" is a great listen. Richie's long blues is a must-listen for all Richie fans. In the second half of the live, Jackie imitates the riff of "Smoke On The Water" with his mouth and requests Richie to "play it for me". However, Richie responds with the riff of "Woman From Tokyo". This is a big hit in the venue, and you can hear a fun scene that is typical of Richie's mischief. Richie has guest-participated in various artists' and bands' stages, and has played guitar that is like no other, but most of the time he only "joined in" for one or two songs. This special live performance is thought to be the only time he has guest-participated in a full-scale live performance. Ritchie's cheerful mood as he plays live is very impressive to fans, and this album is a valuable record that any avid Ritchie fan should not miss!
