The Japan tour of RINGO STARR & HIS ALL STARR BAND was realized in the milestone year of 50 years since their first visit to Japan. A live album of one special night from that tour is now available. That "special night" was the "Orchard Hall performance on October 31, 2016." There were three performances at Orchard Hall during this Japan tour, so let's check the dates.・October 24th: Osaka Orix Theater "OSAKA 2016" ・October 25th: Aichi Prefectural Arts Theater "1 day off" ・October 27th: Fukuoka Sunpalace ・October 28th: Hiroshima Bunka Gakuen HBG Hall "1 day off" ・October 30th: NHK Hall "TOKYO 2016 1ST NIGHT" ・October 31st: Orchard Hall [This work] ・November 1st: Orchard Hall ・November 2nd: Orchard Hall "TOKYO 2016 FINAL NIGHT" In this way, the Japan tour consisted of a total of 8 performances. This work is an audience album that contains the night on the second day in Tokyo and the first day of the three-day consecutive performance at Orchard Hall. The "special" thing about this concert is the date. It was held on Halloween, October 31st. Moreover, the venue was Shibuya Bunkamura. The front of JR Shibuya Station was crowded with young people in costumes, and it was a big commotion that made it difficult to move. Traffic restrictions were even put in place, and the concert organizers even made an announcement saying, "Please arrive early." Since it was a concert in a festive town, the stage was in a party mood on this day. The backdrop was decorated with pumpkin lanterns, and the members appeared in Halloween costumes. The festive mood was also reflected in the performance, which was more exciting than usual. Ringo threw toy apples, and Todd Rundgren smashed a skeleton doll. This is a live album that directly absorbed the air of such a happy and special night. It is an original recording that directly reproduces the master handed over to him by the recorder himself. The sound is a real sound suitable for a party night. This week, CDs such as "TOKYO 2016 1ST NIGHT" from the first day at NHK Hall in Tokyo and "TOKYO 2016 FINAL NIGHT" from the final performance will be released. Although the sound is not as extreme as those of both works, the thick musical tones and the clear, straight-reaching singing voice are wonderful. On top of that, the mood of the venue is also exceptional. Writing like this may give the impression of a recording of a metal concert, but of course that is not possible with Ringo's show. The applause between songs is hot and forward-leaning. And the clapping during the songs is somehow lively... that's the image I got. Such enthusiasm is reflected in the members' performance, creating the cheerful mood mentioned above. As soon as "Matchbox" ended, Ringo shouted "Happy Halloween!", and in the MC he said, "America isn't like this, is it?" (pointing to the costume contests in the city). There are no scenes in this work, but it is a colorful show where the members enjoy rock even with just the sound and smile. An exceptional party show among the eight performances. The Nagoya performance, where the set was changed due to Richard Page's illness, and the final performance, where Marty Friedman also participated as a guest, were special, but the "special feeling" that makes you want to jump in a bouncy mood is something only Halloween night can provide. This is a masterpiece that allows you to immerse yourself in the space. Ringo came to Japan again 50 years after his first visit. This is the "happiest" one of his masterpieces.
