The treasured live album of “BENT OUT OF SHAPE TOUR” will be released as a gift. This tour marked the end of RAINBOW, which had been going on continuously since 1975, but it was also a time when not many sound sources were available due to the short schedule. First, let’s take a look at “BENT OUT OF SHAPE TOUR”. ・September 6th-23rd, 1983: UK (13 performances) ←★Here★・September 28th-October 7th, 1983: Northern Europe (5 performances)・October 28th-December 4th, 1983 : North America (23 performances) March 11-14, 1984: Japan (3 performances) In total, 44 performances. Even if you look at the entire history of RAINBOW, there has never been a tour this short. Among such “BENT OUT OF SHAPE TOUR”, this work was recorded at the very beginning “Tyne and Wear performance on September 8, 1983”. This is an audience album containing the third performance of the tour. The biggest flavor of this work is, after all, the precious “BENT OUT OF SHAPE TOUR” very early state, but the wonderful audience sound that does not match its preciousness is also wonderful. Even though it is rare, it is not a roaring or explosive sound (at all!), but a very neat and active musical tone that arrives clearly and directly. Its beauty is exquisite. The audience makes the musical sound even more appealing. The venue, Whitley Bay Ice Rink, is a hockey rink that can accommodate around 3,000 people, but the excitement that erupts there does not interfere with the performance at all. After each song, a huge applause ensues, but it erupts with perfect timing and balance, as if it had been carefully mixed on a broadcast source, and during the performance it becomes quiet, leaving only the band alone. Rule everything. Although the scene is definitely in the UK, it is a recording that allows you to concentrate on the performance as if it were a performance in Japan. Perhaps this UK tour did not attract attention because the broadcast sound source of the Cardiff performance (8th performance) was too famous, but even if there was a sound board, the recordings so far have been overlooked. That's... The reason these feelings become especially deep is because of the performance of this work. It is undeniable that it is a little stiff because it is the beginning of the tour, but the show is played carefully and is really wonderful. RAINBOW's show at this time has a style that entertains with the goodness of each song, from a style that overwhelms with blockbusters, but the tempo and solid performance that unsparingly release famous songs one after another match. Newly joined master Chuck Bergi's casual fill and crisp drumming are fresh, and as the show progresses, both Richie and Joe get better. Especially when I say the feel of the three consecutive hits that accelerate from “Stranded” with the revived “Stargazer” in the intro to “Death Alley Driver” and “Fire Dance”! This is the true essence of "BENT OUT OF SHAPE TOUR", where the footwork is light and crisp. This age-age mood grows as the show progresses, and the guitar finally crashes during the encore! Richie's passion ignites, flares up, and finally explodes. It is a live album that you can clearly enjoy from every corner. Truly a “hidden masterpiece recording”. It is simply a masterpiece of a live album that is not known, but the sound and show are perfect. There are still hidden treasures hidden in the history of RAINBOW. Because this week has seen a series of new discoveries of Kinney recordings, we want you to know more about the depth of the sound source excavations. Please enjoy it to the fullest!
