“Ritchie Blackmore’s return to rock” has become a hot topic in the rock world. A live album recording the final day of the performance in their home country, England, is now available! This time, RITCHIE BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW, which has been revived for the first time in 19 years, is a limited project (for now) with only 3 performances. Among them, this work includes “Birmingham performance on June 25, 2016”. This week, in addition to "LORELEY 2016" on the first night, the gift album "MONSTERS OF ROCK: BIETIGHEIM-BISSINGEN 2016" will also appear on the second night. Along with this work, the audience albums of all three performances appeared at once. First, let's check the positions for all three performances. ・June 17, 2016 Germany: Lorelei performance → “LORELEY 2016” ・June 18, 2016 Germany: Bietigheim-Bissingen performance → “MONSTERS OF ROCK: BIETIGHEIM-BISSINGEN 2016”《One week later》・2016 June 25th, 2016: Birmingham performance in England → [This work] As you can see, the first two performances were two consecutive days in Germany, and the third and final performance was the only UK performance with a week gap between them. Richie has said for some time that he will continue if things go well, but now all three performances have just ended. It is not yet known whether there will be a sequel. At the moment, this work is “Ritchie’s last rock live”. This work is the first report on the particularly special Birmingham performance of this revival. This is the only complete album that has appeared at the time of writing this nonsense. However, it is not a one-shot recording, but a combination of song-by-song recordings. It seems that most of the original recordings are the same, but it seems that the missing songs are supplemented with separate recordings. Therefore, the performances appeared one after another with short intervals between songs. Although it feels more like folding than it does on-site, it doesn't feel out of place because they are carefully connected. And, as for the quality, this is a really good audience sound. “Connecting” also means “cutting out the bad parts,” and all the songs are very stable and wonderful. Although the extremely thick musical tones are recorded quite powerfully, the sound output from the PA itself is mild, so it is very smooth. The enthusiasm of the audience that overlays it is well balanced, and the chanting and applause of about 15,000 people packed into “Genting Arena (formerly NEC Arena)” seems to push the band from below. The contents of the final day are depicted with such sounds. This is the biggest charm of this work! As has been talked about in various places, this revival performance makes you feel how long "19 years" has been. To put it bluntly, there were many people who said they were disappointed on the first day, but on the second day you could hear them asking, ``Isn't it getting better?'' and by the third day of this work, there was a noticeable recovery. ! Of course, it cannot be compared to Richie in his heyday, but there is a Richie who is as lively as if the two performances in Germany were rehearsals, and who has grasped the feel of rock again. Furthermore, the new vocalist, Ronnie Romero, is also in very good condition. On the first day, he surprised me by saying, ``He's an amazing guy!'', but by the second day, his tone had slowed down a bit, and he said, ``You can't be good at everything.'' However, on the third day of this work, I thought, ``It's really amazing!'' Not everyone gave a perfect performance, as keyboardist Jens Johansson made some mistakes, but the two very popular "Richie & Romero" together gave us the best live performance. . What's more interesting is the set list. These three performances basically had a common setlist, but on the second and third days there was also a special song called “Ichikkiri Kokiri.” Here's a quick summary... ・June 17, 2016 Germany: Lorelei performance → Only the basic set without special songs.・June 18, 2016 Germany: Bietigheim-Bissingen performance → Basic set + "Sixteenth Century Greensleeves" ・June 25, 2016 England: Birmingham performance → Basic set + "Soldier Of Fortune" + "Burn" Book This is the third day of production, so the special songs are "Soldier Of Fortune" and "Burn." These two songs are so amazing that it's a shame that they are only available on this day. For "Soldier Of Fortune", which was also played at BLACKMORE'S NIGHT, Richie switched to an acoustic guitar. This moment is dramatic! Richie seemed to be struggling with rock music for the first time in a while, but here it suddenly turned into a beautiful performance filled with soul. From the perspective of the rock world, “19 years of BLACKMORE’S NIGHT” was just a blank, but Richie himself always continued to pursue his own music and performance. The “weight of 19 years” blooms vividly. Although it's sad to realize that she wasn't a rock person, it's still a moving moment to see that her beautiful and sharp sensibilities are not clouded in the slightest. Furthermore, Romero's vocals are also great. In the two performances in Germany, the powerfulness of the Ronnie James Dio lineage was pushed out to the fullest, but the melody that David Coverdale's famous singing was burned into the mind was also beautifully sung. His voice is rich in emotion, and his singing style is both sad and heroic. This is a wonderful performance that proves that he is not just a metal singer who is all about power. Now, another big highlight is the surprise “Burn” prepared for the encore. While the whole venue was singing the riff of “Black Night”, Richie appeared again and started playing “that riff”! Although there is a scene where Jens makes a mistake in a delicious organ solo and says, "Oh no...", it was the first performance of the new RAINBOW, and they were able to pull it off smoothly, symbolizing the band's top form. Although Richie's solo is a little broken, it is a highlight of the monument concert with "full-on uniqueness". Richie quickly regained his "rock ability" with one performance at a time. As I mentioned earlier, I don't know if it will really be over after just three performances, but it's a live album that I can't help but hope that they will continue and that the next one will be even more amazing. In the future, we are looking forward to a full-length recording, but this is the best "final performance album" so far. Please enjoy it to the fullest as soon as possible!
