"Huh? Is this a leaked soundboard!?"...The intense quality audience album that was a hot topic at the time is back. It is one act of “STRANGER IN US ALL TOUR”, but the taste of this work is not only the sound but also the set list that has a different image from the official “BLACK MASQUERADE” and the Japanese performance. Before we introduce its contents, let's first understand the basics. Let's take a look at the tour as a whole. "STRANGER IN US ALL" Released September 30, 1995 - November 4, 1995: European Tour #1 (25 performances) - November 11 - 23, 1995: Japan Tour (9 performances) [7 months]・June 27-July 7, 1996: South American tour (8 performances)・July 21-August 11, 1996: European tour #2 (13 performances) ←★Here★《Chuck Bergi leaves → John Miceli joins >> February 20, 1997 - March 19, 1997: North American tour (18 performances) - May 31, 1997: Denmark performance (final performance) [RAINBOW disbands → BLACKMORE'S NIGHT starts] That's all This is the whole story of “STRANGER IN US ALL TOUR”. The official “BLACK MASQUERADE” and the Japan performance are the early parts of the 1995 tour, but this work was recorded at “Linköping Performance (Sweden) on August 9, 1996”. “European Tour #2”, which was placed in the 1996 part in the middle of the tour, is also the third performance from the end. How is this “European Tour #2” different from the Japan tour? It was intense from the beginning. The show starts with “Over The Rainbow” as usual, but it is not “Spotlight Kid” that explodes, but “Long Live Rock’n’Roll”! Actually, there are three types of openings for “STRANGER IN US ALL TOUR”, and they differ depending on the time. Let's sort things out a bit. [Spotlight Kid Opening] → September-November 1995: Europe #1/Japan (up to Kitakyushu) → February-May 1997: North America/Denmark [Too Late For Tears Opening] → November-August 1995 : Japan (from Yokohama)/South America [Long Live Rock'n'Roll opening] → July-August 1996: Europe #2 The pole position of this tour is "Spotlight Kid", who is also familiar from the official "BLACK MASQUERADE" Although the image is strong, it changed to "Too Late For Tears" during the Japanese performance (Yokohama, Tokyo NK). After that, the song changed from “Long Live Rock’n’Roll” to “Spotlight Kid” again. This work is a live album that can be said to be a masterpiece of the “Long Live Rock’n’Roll opening” period, which was not available in the Japanese performance. I thought it was just an exaggerated opening song, but this alone completely changed my impression. The song included "Hey Joe" and Doogie White's top-notch trad songs, and the performance lasted more than 10 minutes. Even though the show had just begun, the mood was immediately set for an encore. The audience is very excited and it's a festive time. Although it is a classic representative song, even in the long history of RAINBOW... no, even DIO has never used it this way. Honestly, if "Over The Rainbow" wasn't there, I think I might have put the tapes in the wrong order. Adding to this mood is the second song “Mistreated”. This is also a song that was not played at the Japan performance, but appeared from the "South American tour". This is also a long performance of over 9 minutes, and Dougie is in the mood of being David Coverdale or Ronnie James Dio, singing a melody that sounds like a mixture of the two. Next up is "Greensleeves". From the festive opening to heavy blues classics and then trad. About 25 minutes into the show, it already feels like an encore... After receiving “Greensleeves”, it continues to “Wolf To The Moon” and finally enters the structure of a normal live performance, but the encore mood that has once been immersed does not go away and continues to trail forever. Yes, the fun of this work is the live performance like “an encore that lasts for more than 100 minutes”. Although the story of the set list became long, the sound that recorded such a show is the greatest flavor of this work. At that time, "LONG LIVE RAINBOW" was released from the POWER GATE label, and as I mentioned at the beginning, it has a "almost soundboard" sound. Not only the vocals and guitar, but also the keyboard and rhythm section are very close together. You can tell from the vividness of the clapping that it is an audience recording, but it is so thick that it seems as if the applause was overdubbed onto the leaked soundboard. Although it is too close, there are some parts where it becomes slightly over-peaked, but it is a famous recording among the famous recordings that are representative of the special grade even in "European Tour #2". A masterpiece that allows you to fully enjoy a show like ``100-minute encore'' with almost the same sound as a sound board connected directly to a desk. A masterpiece of a live album that is rare even in the rainbow-colored history. Live at Folkets Park, Lidkoping, Sweden 9th August 1996 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc 1(69:52) 1. Over The Rainbow 2.
