From Kinney's original cassette reprint series, RAINBOW's masterpiece Live in Japan is here again. This work was recorded as the audience album for the first day of “STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES JAPAN TOUR” “October 12, 1982: Osaka Festival Hall Performance”. Although this tour was fulfilling with a total of 8 performances, it was also a time when the discovery of sound sources was not progressing for some reason. However, we have introduced as much as possible at our store, so let's take a look back at our lineup. ・October 12, 1982: Osaka Festival Hall [This work] ・October 13, 1982: Osaka Festival Hall ・October 14, 1982: Osaka Festival Hall "SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS" ・October 16, 1982 : Kyoto Kaikan ・October 17, 1982: Fukuoka Sun Palace ・October 19, 1982: Nagoya City Public Hall ・October 21, 1982: Nippon Budokan "RIPPED APART" ・October 22, 1982: Nippon Budokan "CATCH" THE NIGHT” (Note: Only the representative audience album for each performance) There were a total of 8 performances. The works listed here are only representative works from each day, and are not exhaustive. Until now, "STONE COLD NIGHT" has been known as the definitive version of "October 12: First Day in Osaka" included in this work, but this work is a completely different Kinney recording. It is a live album that was created from the original cassette of the sound source that was once released as the 3-disc analog “STONE COLD”. The sound is amazing, completely surpassing the previous ones. I can still see that it is on a completely different level from the separately recorded POWER GATE version "STONE COLD NIGHT", but it is far more amazing than Kinney's analog "STONE COLD". A clear and transparent atmosphere, a thick and sharp musical tone, a rich and rich “ringing”, a master freshness that reaches like a laser beam... When compared to this work, the POWER GATE album ``STONE COLD NIGHT'' is too fluffy to talk about, and even Kinney's analog ``STONE COLD'' feels sluggish. In the past, it could not be said that the sound quality was high without the phrase ``for this era'', but in this work, even that phrase is unnecessary. As expected of Kinney, the original cassette that breathed the atmosphere directly from the scene is different... The sound depicts the real “STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES JAPAN TOUR”. Although it does not have as much impact as Joe Lynn Turner's first visit in 1981 and 1984, which became the RAINBOW dissolution tour, the show that connects the two is really interesting. Of course, there are new songs from “STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES” (“Tearin’ Out My Heart” is wonderful!), but the structure of the show is also “in the midst of change”. Speaking of RAINBOW shows, the pattern was to liven up the show with a medley masterpiece in the second half, but from around 1982, the style changed to a compact style that focused on the "good songs". Although it is not yet as good as 1984, when considering Richie’s live style, “1982” may be a surprisingly big turning point. Furthermore, it is actually the opening that reveals the “feel of the time”. The flow of "Over The Rainbow" → "Spotlight Kid" is too obvious now, but the atmosphere here is fun. At that time, most of the audience expected "Death Alley Driver", but the riff of "Spotlight Kid" resounded while waiting for the motorcycle engine. Normally, this would be the place where the excitement of "Wow!" would explode all at once, but this time the explosion was delayed, and although there was clapping, there was no scream. You can clearly see the momentary "huh!?" that goes through the hearts of the audience. The 1980s was different from the modern era where you can check the set list in advance, and that's the atmosphere you get because it's the first day. *Note: By the way, there is actually a live album with "Death Alley Driver" as the opening song. We also have a special edition with a particularly good sound, ``DEATH ALLEY ROCK FEVER (Shades 508),'' so please be sure to experience the fantastic opening. A new discovery of "Kinney Magic" with original cassette sound after about 35 years. Not only is it a valuable piece of "STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES JAPAN TOUR" with few sound sources, but it is also a masterpiece of a live album with a superb sound that blows away even its rarity.
