The December 10th Kyoto Kaikan performance from the legendary first tour to Japan in 1976 is recorded as a high-quality audience recording from the original master cassette. Compared to the previous releases, it is recorded with a more natural and calm sound, and is a perfect listen. On this day, after Stargazer, there was an improvisational part featuring the Ventures' Apache and standard numbers, reminiscent of the 1978 tour, so enjoy a show that felt different from other days. can do. After Kill The King, Richie starts tuning and introduces the members in front of Mistreated to buy time. Kill The King has a slightly distant sound, but it becomes a direct sound image from Mistreated. There are on-off cuts of recording before Sixteenth Century Greensleeves and Catch The Rainbow, but they don't affect the songs that much. (It is assumed that this was because the recorder was careful not to cut out the song because he recorded it on a 90-minute tape.) On this day, before Man On The Silver Mountain, Richie did a lot of lively improvisation on Lazy. It will help you. Man On The Silver Mountain's 5:43-6:20 (tape change part) and after the drum solo are connected with different sound sources on the same day. When you listen to the existing sound source in succession like this, you can clearly see that this sound source is recorded with a very thick, plump, and natural sound. Tony's synth in Blues has a slightly thinner tone that is more fusion-like than usual, which is wonderful, and if possible, I wish "On Stage" had been performed and recorded with this sound. Ronnie's vocal improvisation after Blues is also original and very wonderful, and you can listen to a very moving performance. (It's also really good after Starstruck.) However, I don't know what happened with Stargazer because the vocals couldn't be heard (microphone trouble?), so it turned into a karaoke situation at first, and the composition and performance became melodious (which is rare). ) You can listen to the performance. In the second half, Cozy leads a performance that makes you think "Is this Stargazer?", and even in the dramatic break in the second half, Richie becomes amazing and it is very interesting. After the Stargazer performance, I felt sorry for this, and as mentioned above, led by Richie, a fun improvisational part begins. This area is the most interesting part of this show. And the sharp riff of Still I'm Sad, which starts right away, is the best. Cozy's drum solo is also recorded at the highest level of sound, and it can be seen that it was recorded with a very high quality microphone. The second half is a continuation of the previous episodes, but on this day, in addition to playing A Light In The Black as an encore, Tony plays a Bach-style organ solo before that, making it a very original song full of interesting things to listen to. You can enjoy the content of the performance. Live at Kyoto Kaikan Daiichi Hall, Kyoto, Japan 10th December 1976 TRULY AMAZING SOUND(from Original Masters) Disc 1 1. Over The Rainbow 2.
