19 years, 2 weeks and 3 days have passed since RITCHIE BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW's final performance. Finally, Ritchie Blackmore has finally returned to the world of rock! Introducing the live album that includes the first performance, “Lorelei Performance on June 17, 2016”!! Ever since last year’s “Rock Return Declaration”, we have been looking forward to this day. As it has attracted the attention of rock fans around the world, various records are already being made, but this work is by far the most talked about among them. It is an audience album that allows you to listen to the full show of the monument all at once without stagnation. First, let's talk briefly about this revival of RAINBOW. Richie decided to return to the rock world due to "nostalgia" and reorganized RAINBOW on a limited basis. The members are Ronnie Romero from Chile on vocals, David Keith of BLACKMORE'S NIGHT (drums) and Bob Nouveau (bass) on the rhythm section, and Jens Johansson of STRATOVARIUS on keyboards (by the way, Bob Nouveau) His real name is "Robert Curiano", but he also calls himself "Sir Robert of Normandie" in BLACKMORE'S NIGHT, and is a troublesome person). And, the important live shows are only scheduled to be held three times (June 17, 2016, June 18, and June 25, 2016) (Ritchie himself said, ``We'll see how it goes, and if things go well, we might continue.'' However, he also declares that ``the main story is BLACKMORE'S NIGHT,'' and after that I can't read it.) This work is a full live album on the first day of only three revival performances. The reason why it is attracting attention is because it is a full recording, but the quality is just as wonderful. Although there is a sense of distance to call it "just like a sound board," the clarity of the musical sound that is not disturbed by cheers is on par with line recording. Not only can you hear all the instruments clearly, but I'm especially happy that the focus is on the guitar and vocals. At this moment, it is the one that allows you to enjoy the best of "Ritchie's 2016 Rock Guitar". The new RAINBOW that is depicted with that sound...it really hits you in the chest. Led by that nostalgic “Land Of Hope And Glory” and Dorothy’s lines, “Over The Rainbow” rings out. What you hear from there is unmistakable “that tone”! ``Highway Star'' begins when 19 years of time are blown away in an instant!! Although this revival live is under the name ``RAINBOW'', Richie himself has declared that he will ``do DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW.'' The focus is on "me playing hard rock" without separating the two bands. The opening seems to clearly declare this. Then, "Spotlight Kid" and "Mistreated"...the two bands' representative songs were released one after another. Looking back, the show was mostly dominated by Ian Gillan era DEEP PURPLE and Ronnie James Dio era RAINBOW. Along with the song selection, I'm curious about each member, but to be honest, the rhythm section feels more like BLACKMORE'S NIGHT than RAINBOW, and there are some scenes where I can't quite grasp the song, such as the ending of "Spotlight Kid." However, new singer Ronnie Romero is blowing away all that and dyeing it in rainbow colors. He has a wild voice similar to Jörn Lande, but his singing is very careful and skillful. Among the past members, he is close to Ronnie James Dio, and sings passionately with a heroic voice. During his amateur days, he was part of a cover band for RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, and BLACK SABBATH, and while respecting the original, he has made the songs completely his own. He's also wonderful in that he doesn't resort to easy impersonation, and while he sings everything from Ian Gillan songs to Joe Lynn Turner songs without feeling out of place, he doesn't make you feel like he's ``like Ian'' or ``like Joe'' (what is ``like Dio''? I think so (lol). The one that stands out is “Man On The Silver Mountain.” In the middle part, he inserts his own unique singing style, and the highlight of the song is reached by shouting, "Who is the champion of Ginrei? Do you want me to tell you? It's Ronnie Dio!" Furthermore, in the MC that followed, he confirmed the countries of the fans who had gathered from all over the world and greeted them using Spanish. Spanish is his native language for him, who is from Chile and lives in Spain, and his English was so perfect that he was reminded of it here. Although she is an unknown singer, she instantly captures the hearts of the audience. Richie's keen eye for identifying frontmen is still unclouded. Other songs include "Mistreated" and "Catch The Rainbow," which are full of passionate and sad singing, the emotional "Stargazer," and "Child In Time," which reaches its climax with the riff of "Woman From Tokyo" at the end. Arashi's songs are all worth listening to. To be honest, I can feel the 19-year gap in Richie's guitar, and I'm also curious about the effects of having surgery on the ring finger of his left hand in February of this year. Even though I play carefully, I feel like I haven't regained the rock feel. However, more than that, the reality of "that tone is spinning rock" hits me hard. I wonder how much they can regain their confidence in the remaining two performances, and how much of “that spark” they will be able to hear. This is a live album that even that will make you look forward to. A rainbow colored one painted with “BLACKMORE'S HARD ROCK”. Bringing you the moment of the century you've been waiting for.
