The (almost) full video of the valuable “DIFFICULT TO CURE TOUR 1981” is now available. This work was filmed at the 53rd performance of the world tour, "June 10, 1981 Essen performance." Until then, RAINBOW's audience shots were mainly filmed, but this work was based on video, which was still rare at the time. This is a valuable piece that is said to be “probably the oldest RAINBOW video shoot.” The quality is unbecoming of such a precious item. At that time, they must have brought cameras that were incomparably bigger than today's cameras, but the angles were unusually stable and delicious. The shot appears to have been taken from the left side of the stage, but the angle is extremely stable, probably due to the use of a tripod. There is a lot of zooming in, centering on Ritchie Blackmore and Joe Lynn Turner, so that their whole bodies fill the screen, but there is no camera shake at all. What's more, the stage is placed directly over the heads of the first-floor arena guests, so they won't be bothered by shadows from the front rows. And not only the shooting, but also the master freshness is wonderful. Although the grain is coarse as it was shot in the early days of video, there are almost no distortions due to master deterioration or dubbing marks. Although it should be separated from modern digital sensibilities, its vivid colors are beyond precious and vividly bring back the scenes of "1981." “DIFFICULT TO CURE TOUR 1981” drawn with that quality is truly valuable. This tour started in February 1981 and performed a total of 96 performances in the six months until August, but this work is a record of the latter half, both in terms of timing and number of performances. New members Joe Lynn Turner/Bobby Rondinelli have also become accustomed to the band and are well suited to the ensemble. On top of that, there is a freshness that ``every place we go to is a new place'' and a strong desire to ``prove the capabilities of the new lineup.'' Joe is a singer who is in good condition and in bad condition, but in this work he is in good condition and gives an excellent singing voice that is both sweet and bluesy. Although it is not without its flaws, such as the audio being a little cracked and some cuts being made in some songs, you can fully enjoy the medley format of the show and the passion of Richie's phrases. “STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES TOUR” included “LIVE BETWEEN THE EYES,” and “BENT OUT OF SHAPE TOUR” included “JAPAN TOUR'84.” On the other hand, it is a valuable piece that allows you to witness the whole picture of “DIFFICULT TO CURE TOUR”, for which no footage remained officially. A video masterpiece that complements the “glorious history of rainbows.” Please enjoy this opportunity to the fullest. Live at Grugahalle, Essen, Germany 10th June 1981 (69:51) 1. Over The Rainbow 2.
