The final version of the shocking work "DOWN TO EARTH ROUGH MIX" born from the late Cozy Powell's tape collection is here. Cozy Tape has produced many masterpieces and masterpieces, but the ultimate is RAINBOW. It is also the rough mix of the great masterpieces "RISING" and "DOWN TO EARTH". This week is the last chance to digitize these two great underground masterpieces. It is released simultaneously with "RISING ROUGH MIX". The biggest point of this work is that the sound is even more natural and the highest peak than ever before. However, before that, let's talk a little about the essential basics. This work is a temporary mix album recorded during the production of RAINBOW's masterpiece "DOWN TO EARTH". There are various stages of "rough mix" in one bite, and the contents are diverse. In the case of "RISING", it was just before completion, and the finish should be called the blueprint of the final mix. Even if it had been released as it was, it would have been called a rock masterpiece. In contrast, this work is not so far. On the cassette owned by Cozy, all the songs are written with working titles, and all the songs except for "Sparks Don't Mean A Fire (the original song of No Time To Lose)" are instrumentals before the vocals are added. It is a record of the stage where the backing arrangement is solidified. This recording was first released in 2002, and after that, the official deluxe edition of "DOWN TO EARTH" was released. The bonus disc also contained an outtake titled "WORK IN PROGRESS" during the work, but it is a completely different take / mix from this work (according to the verification of maniacs, the deluxe edition of "RISING" is said to be the same as the Cozy tape). Although it is such a "rough mix of the Cozy tape", this work is digitized from the same master cassette as the previous ones. Therefore, the performance and mix itself are the same as the previous ones. However, what is different is the sound. Of course, we have the best equipment and environment that we can hope for in 2018, but in this last challenge, we played it over and over again. Even in the same environment, the sound of analog differs slightly each time it is played. The best sounds were selected from them and sealed in the CD (this work also includes the track "Set Me Free" for Graham Bonnet's solo album from another Cozy tape, as in the previous work, but this is also a similar process). The sound extracted by such a precise and precise work is exactly the vibration of the air that the master cassette was sucking in. The reality is that Richie's guitar strings and the skin of the drums that Cozy hits are vibrating right there. On top of that, the sound spreads naturally. Although it is a glossy sound unique to analog rather than the strength of the attack, this is the truth of the master. All the silent parts and song order are as they are on the Cozy tape. It is recorded without mastering. In addition, the precise and precise process also picks up "sounds" that have not been heard before. For example, in "Bluesing (the original song of Love's No Friend)", there is a very small voice that is played before the performance. It is a very small voice that you can't tell who is the voice, but this work has engraved even such a subtle sound tightly. Furthermore, the sense of stability during playback is the best this time. You can feel it from the stereo feeling of the whole work, but the most obvious one is the intro of "The Plod (the original song of Making Love)". The sound was slightly deteriorated and unstable in the previous release, but this time it is beautiful and stable. These points are just examples of precision. This work is permeated with precise precision throughout the entire work. While sealing in a rich sound, the analog master has a limited lifespan unlike digital recording. This is a masterpiece that bets on the last chance to suck out the beautiful sound before it is lost and keep it forever. This is the master sound. It is the truth of the legendary Cozy tape itself. ★ (Remastering memo) The sound quality has not been changed at all, but the left and right balance between sides A and B was greatly out of whack, so it was adjusted.
