This legendary recording of the extremely rare song "L.A. Connection" has been upgraded. This new masterpiece, converted to CD from a DAT clone of the original master owned by "Krw_co," is set to be released. This work features the legendary audience recording from the May 21, 1978 Fresno concert. During the Ronnie James Dio era, Rainbow was divided into the Jimmy Bain/Tony Caray and David Stone/Bob Daisley formations, with 1978 being the latter. This work is a special piece in that collection. To explain its significance, let's first explore its position from a holistic perspective. 1977 (January: Jimmy Bain leaves) (September: Tony Caray replaced by David Stone/Bob Daisley joins) September 25–October 27: Europe (24 shows) ← Official video October 31–November 22: UK (17 shows) (December: "The Gates of Babylon" completed) 1978: January 11–February 3: Japan (15 shows) May 9–August 24: North America (60 shows) ← ★Click here★ (September: Stone/Daisley leaves) This is a masterpiece recording featuring extremely rare songs. This is RAINBOW from 1977/1978. 1978 was memorable for Ritchie Blackmore's largest-ever Japan tour, with most of the recordings coming from Japan. However, the "North American" leg after his departure from Japan was the biggest live performance, and it was also Ronnie's final tour. Let's focus on the dates and organize our collection further. Details of the "North American" leg: May 9-20 (8 performances) * May 21: Fresno performance ←★This work★ * May 22-26 (2 performances) * May 27 "L.A. CONNECTION (Louisville)" * May 28-June 23 (16 performances) * June 24 "ATLANTA 1978" * June 25-July 1 (6 performances) * July 2 "DEFINITIVE CHICAGO 1978" * July 4-August 24 (23 performances) ... and so on. The most famous masterpiece is the FM soundboard "ATLANTA 1978: REEL TO REEL DIRECT TRANSFER," but it was the Fresno recording that has been loved as the masterpiece of audience recording. In other words, it's one of Ronnie's most important live albums, alongside "ATLANTA 1978." Of course, even the strongest audience sound can't match the impressive soundboard of "ATLANTA 1978." Instead, the strength of this work is the extremely rare "L.A. Connection." This song was only performed in the early stages of the "North American" leg, and only two performances, the Fresno performance (this one) and the Louisville performance, are actually available. And while Fresno has the better sound, this one is its highest-level updated master. The upgraded sound is indeed the best ever. While the opening and closing parts are several tens of seconds longer than before, what's even more important is the sound that permeates the entire album. Originally a dense, well-known recording, this one is even richer and more natural. Its brilliance is evident from the opening track, "Kill the King," where the sound image, previously centered, becomes wider, creating a more realistic spatial experience. Ronnie's vocals, penetrating the sound, stand out powerfully and clearly, while Richie's guitar is sharply defined. Even the subtlest nuances, like the solo at the beginning of "Mistreated," are clearly audible. Another appealing feature of this recording is its strong bass. While audience recordings tend to be either sparse or overpowering, this release brings Bob Disley's lines to the forefront, maintaining a lustrous, mellow sound without distortion. "Kill the King" exudes a heavy, tank-like driving force, while "Man on the Silver Mountain" is incredibly driving and cool. The bass solo on the following "Blues" is also a highlight. While the new mastering process improves the resolution of the deep bass, this release also incorporates unique mastering techniques. The overall balance is also improved by highlighting the previously subdued high frequencies. While utilizing the unique character of the original recording, the album maximizes its musical potential and perfection. Enjoy the rare track "L.A. Connection" with exceptional sound, even in 1978. This is the pinnacle of this storytelling recording. A cultural heritage album that lets you experience the Ronnie James Dio era on tour.
