“LIVE AID” suddenly came into the limelight with the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody.” A professional shot work that allows you to deeply enjoy that miraculous 20 minutes has been decided to be released. Of course, what is included in this work is “July 13, 1985 Wembley Stadium Performance”. The professional shot video has not only been made into an official DVD, but has also been introduced as "LIVE AID: THE VIDEO". It feels like I don't know what's out there now...but it's there somewhere. Overseas core enthusiasts have released a video work that can be called the "LIVE AID Complete Works", which collects related videos, including even different versions. The content of this work can be roughly divided into three types. Since it is a compilation, it includes the same footage as the conventional version “LIVE AID: THE VIDEO”, but the amount has been further increased to make it a masterpiece that lasts about an hour and a half. Now, let's introduce each video. [Last minute rehearsal & interview] New footage from the beginning. This is an interview that captures QUEEN on the big stage of the century. Although the exact date and time are unknown, judging from the costumes, it may have been held as part of a last-minute rehearsal. There are four of us, but it's Brian and Freddie who mainly talk. Roger also speaks a little bit, but John, who smiles from beginning to end and doesn't say a word, is a very typical image of him. And, the longest and highest quality version of the last rehearsal that was also included in “LIVE AID: THE VIDEO”. It seems that they are using the same master, and the quality is almost the same as the official one. Brian, who was wearing shorts, nailed the guitar solo for "Bohemian Rhapsody" (which he made a mistake in the actual performance), and Freddie also performed the song enthusiastically, performing just like in the actual performance. You can enjoy rehearsals with registered stamps. [British broadcast version of the actual professional shot] Now, next is the actual miracle stage. Since it was a major event, it was broadcast in many countries, but this work includes four broadcast versions. First up is the prestigious BBC version, which is proud of its home country of England. The key to this video is quality. In "LIVE AID: THE VIDEO", the official video was synchronized with the audio of the FM broadcast, but this time, both the video and audio were broadcast live by the BBC. There's definitely a subtitle with the donation contact information midway through, so it's definitely the broadcast version, but the visuals are so beautiful that I wonder if it's the official DVD version until then. Although it does not have the strong individuality of the other versions mentioned below, you can look back on the ``miraculous 20 minutes'' in real time with straight and perfect video and audio. This is the most basic version, and includes an introduction to QUEEN by the late Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones, both dressed as police officers. [American broadcast version of the actual pro shot (2 types)] Next comes the American broadcast, which can be said to be the essence of this work. Contains two types: "MTV broadcast version" and "WNEW-TV broadcast version". What's amazing about this is its intense real-time feel and dynamic composition. The "MTV broadcast version" appears first, but the scene is not Wembley, but JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, USA. LIVE AID was held simultaneously at two venues and was also broadcast to each other. When QUEEN appeared at Wembley at 18:41, it was 13:41 at JFK Stadium. The appearance of QUEEN was also introduced at JFK. Those roles were played by "Saturday Night Live" stars Chevy Chase and Joe Piscopo. As the two progress, the scene cuts to Wembley, where a police officer appears. LIVE AID was happening at the same time across the globe. The real-time feeling is blurred, and you can realize how huge an event it was. But what's really amazing is what happens after that. It is a superb master approaching the BBC version, but a strange scene appears from around "Radio Ga Ga". Then, a person who looks like an MTV VJ wanders backstage and stares blankly at the monitor. Although it is momentary and the audio is a passionate performance by QUEEN, its blurry appearance is too out of proportion to the miracle that is happening right now. Seeing that grin on his face made me feel more than uncomfortable and asked, ``Why aren't you showing QUEEN?''... It is after "Hammer To Fall" that the discomfort exceeds its limit. Even though the miraculous stage progressed to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", the VJ took center stage on the screen and the show was cut. Spent endless hours of idle talk. If you have time to say things like ``QUEEN is great music,'' show the truth... Moreover, in the background, that amazing and miraculous “We Are The Champions” is faintly flowing, which makes it even worse. Even though MTV was in the early days of turning VJs into stars, they still managed to do something like that... An outrageous act that leaves you stunned before you can even get angry. That may be because it's in real time, where you can't predict who will be the highlight or which song will be a masterpiece. And the other "WNEW-TV broadcast version" is also quite weak. Jeff Bridges, who was an untitled great actor at the time, plays the role of introduction, but what you hear in the background is “Radio Ga Ga”. Although it's not as violent as MTV, it's as awkward as entering a movie theater that has already started showing. I don't even have to worry about thinking that if I change the channel midway through, I'll get the full version. Well, this is why Americans... [Japanese broadcast version of the actual professional shot] ...The next Japanese broadcast version will not make fun of Americans. As I have introduced before, the overseas enthusiasts who produced this work also had their eyes on it. The feeling of being late starts in the middle of "Bohemian Rhapsody", and the subtitles only show 9-digit phone numbers and the names of banks that no longer exist. "The donation reception number is 03-359-1000. The banks that handle it are Fuji Bank, Mitsubishi Bank, and Sumitomo Bank. , Daiichi Kangyo Bank” is still very strong. The voice that simultaneously translates the MC before “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” would also be great if it were broadcast live. And, of course, “We Will Rock You.” Just when the miracle is about to reach its climax, the screen suddenly cuts out. It was cut off during the commercial, but I felt this helpless feeling of weakness. That moment when the dream show suddenly disappeared. The combination of the surprise I felt 33 years ago, the excitement of witnessing the same moment as QUEEN on live broadcast, and the lack of hope for the commercial to end soon! No matter how much time passes, no matter how many times I watch it, I still can't get used to it. As if to soothe those feelings, this work ends with the superb master (BBC broadcast version) of "Is This The World We Created?" performed by Freddie and Brian in the evening session. This is a collection of videos that gives you a sense of the greatness of the BBC, but also gives you a strong sense of what it was like in 1985, when world broadcasting was just a struggle. The ultimate version is still the bonus DVDR ``LIVE AID: THE VIDEO'', but by lining up the broadcasts from each country, you can feel the essence of LIVE AID, which was global. And because the scale is so huge, you can really feel the greatness of QUEEN, who played the leading role. A maniacal video work that allows you to experience the "miraculous 20 minutes" from a variety of perspectives. Live at Wembley Stadium, London, UK 13th July 1985 PRO-SHOT (90:47) 1.
