Prince's last Japan tour "ONE NITE ALONE... TOUR 2002". The best live album is now available. From this tour, we have introduced masterpieces such as the CD "ONE NITE ALONE IN OSAKA (ZION-080)" from the Osaka performance, "WHOLE LOTTAL LOVE: HAMAMATSU 2002" and "ONE NITE ALONE IN BUDOKAN". However, this work is a masterpiece recording that boasts outstanding quality among them. Moreover, it is an audience album containing the valuable Hokkaido performance "November 21, 2002, Hokkaido Welfare Pension Hall" performance. First, let's take a look at the overall picture of the last Japan tour. ・November 15th: Tokyo International Forum ・November 17th: Act City Hamamatsu “WHOLE LOTTAL LOVE: HAMAMATSU 2002” ・November 18th: Nippon Budokan “ONE NITE ALONE IN BUDOKAN” ・November 19th: Nippon Budokan “ ONE NITE ALONE IN BUDOKAN'' ・November 21st: Hokkaido Welfare Pension Center [This work] ・November 22nd: Zepp Sendai ・November 26th: Fukuoka Sun Palace ・November 28th: Osaka Castle Hall ``ONE NITE ALONE IN'' ``OSAKA'' November 29th: Nagoya Century Hall In this way, the final tour will have a total of 9 performances. Of these, this work includes the fifth performance in the middle. What's more important than being "in the middle of the tour" is that it's Hokkaido. He has only performed in Hokkaido twice in his life, once at the Makomanai Outdoor Stadium in 1990 and for this work. This work, which contains such a valuable Hokkaido performance, has a wonderful audience sound. In the first place, only one recording of this day is known, and this work uses the master provided by the recorder. We mastered it even more carefully and made it into the best sound ever. In fact, the beauty of the sound flowing from this work is exquisite. You can tell that it is an audience recording from the realistic atmosphere, but the atmosphere is extremely transparent, and the “ringing” of the musical sounds is also glossy. Although the type is a little different from "direct connection to the ears," it is a type of recording where the venue acoustics further enhance the beauty of the musical tones and singing voices. When I write this, you may think, ``Aren't I trying to disguise the blurry sound?'', but that's not the case. Each note of the piano, each hit of the drums, and each word spoken by Prince reach you straight, but the reverberations that follow are so transparent that they don't hide any edges. While you can understand the picking nuances of the guitar, you can also feel the scale that surrounds your body. Perhaps it is the atmosphere of Hokkaido that makes such sounds especially enjoyable. This is the first time in 12 years that the event will be held in Sapporo, and the audience has been eagerly waiting for it. The Hokkaido Welfare Pension Hall (currently the Sapporo Arts and Culture Hall), which was the venue, is one of the largest halls in Hokkaido, with a capacity of 2,300 people. Although it is much smaller than the Makomanai Outdoor Stadium 12 years ago (approximately 17,000 people), the atmosphere with so many passionate fans packed in was so warm. The enthusiasm is not excessive during the performance, but between songs there is a ferocious applause. It's not just that it's been a long time, but it clearly shows Prince's concentration to imprint on his every move. The mood changes with the killer “Purple Rain”. The atmosphere changes completely with that intro, and the concentration I had up until then suddenly becomes overwhelming. I finally got to see Prince. It perfectly captures the moment when ``reason is blown away''. And the chorus of 2,300 members sings with all their heart and soul, and the grandeur of the chorus and singalong. I was able to experience the spaciousness of the venue, which I had never realized before due to its high sound quality and clarity, and the sound of a cutting guitar solo echoing along with it... It's a truly moving moment. The audience was so excited that they were now more absorbed than they could concentrate. Funky, soulful, dancing wildly in Prince's hands. Of course, it will not be a bad recording covered with loud screams. While maintaining the beautiful and vivid musical tones, the enthusiastic clapping and cheering that is typical of Japanese people conveyed the temperature of the venue. What makes the Hokkaido performance even more special are the “Santana Medley” and the extremely rare song “Power Fantastic.” "Santana Medley" was a special cover only for this day, and four songs were played in quick succession: "Jungle Strut," "Batuka," "Soul Sacrifice," and "Toussaint L'Overture." It was an extremely passionate performance that included funk, soul, and even Latin music. I don't know how well the fans at the scene know Santana, but that doesn't matter because the excitement is so intense. And then there's "Power Fantastic," a ballad that says, "Everyone sit down and listen." It's an unreleased song that was quietly recorded at the end of "THE HITS/THE B-SIDES", and it's only available on this day in Japan. Or should I say, it is an extremely rare performance, “5 or 6 times throughout the entire career?” To be able to hear it with such a great sound... It was a tour that changed the set list every day and played valuable songs in various places, but it is a treasure take that stands out among them. It was only the second time in his life, and it was the first time in 12 years that he performed in Hokkaido. This is a masterpiece of a live album that allows you to be present in a space filled with emotion and breathe in the atmosphere. It's been 14 years since this live show, and it's been longer than the Hokkaido fans of this work that I haven't been able to meet Prince. It's precisely at this moment in time that the feelings of the fans gathered here touch my heart. You can feel the joy in your skin. The superb sound quality and valuable performances will attract attention from enthusiasts around the world, but more than that, it is a live album full of "feelings" that only Japanese people can feel. I want to meet Prince again. How happy I would be to meet you. A book that allows you to share that feeling with 2,300 people.
