This title recalls the fifth configuration of the Diamonds and Pearls album, released on May 8, 1991. There have been four temporary configurations of Diamonds and Pearls before its completion: the first, two second, and third. The fourth configuration, released on March 1, 1991, already included the setlist of the fifth configuration, which included Horny Pony instead of Gett Off. Prince then recorded Push on February 5, 1991, and included it on the album. Some musical ideas were used from a re-recorded version of "Ooh This I Need," originally created for Elisa Fiorillo's television performance. Rosie Gaines and Tony M contribute vocals, and uncredited strings by Claire Fisher are featured, borrowing from the strings on "Old Friends 4 Sale," which was included on the third configuration. On Push, rap parts refer to several of the album's tracks in chronological order. The fourth and fifth configurations are followed by "Horny Pony," indicating that the band was still called Horny Pony. Push's rap lyrics are actually featured on the back of the Diamonds and Pearls album packaging, with "Gett Off" added above "Horny Pony." The fifth configuration is the fourth edited version, and the tracklist appears to be the same as the released album version. Horny Pony was taken from the 7-inch version of Fun With Vinyl. The rest of the tracks are remastered by Dr. Fink. Bonus tracks include the leaked Daddy Pop 12-inch version of Diamonds and Love, as well as a first-time extended remix of Willing and Able.
