The release of "THE POLICE Special" produced by BBC has been decided. This work contains the famous program "TOP OF THE POPS". However, it is not a compilation of past appearances, but an original special program produced after the reunion. In fact, the editing is wonderful. The contents are from the debut mime appearance to live performances and PVs. Although there is a little narration to introduce the songs, it is mostly filled with performances and music. However, since 17 songs are packed into a broadcast time of about 1 hour, most of them are not full performances, but the "highlights" and "history" are condensed so well that it is not noticeable. Moreover, all of them are of the highest quality by the world-famous BBC. It is just like saying "As expected of BBC, which has walked with rock culture". Furthermore, it is not just condensed, but the breadth is also unique to the special program. Although the show is centered on "THE POLICE," it also includes rare footage of Sting's solo work, Stewart Copeland's masked unit KLARK KENT, and even a reggae cover of "The Bed's Too Big Without You" by Sheila Hilton (also included in the tribute album "REGGATTA MONDATTA"). Details of each song are explained with simple English subtitles, and you can enjoy the nostalgia or be surprised that there was footage like this. The 60 minutes pass in the blink of an eye. There are many rare videos, such as the terribly cool early live performances of "So Lonely," "Fall Out," and "Hole In My Life," but the most eye-catching one is the video of their appearance on "TOP OF THE POPS." This show is based on mime (except for special cases), but in "Roxanne" and "Can't Stand Losing You," which were released just after their debut, the performance is amazing, as if they are saying, "There's no sound coming out anyway!" He doesn't play the bass, he shouts without even paying attention to the microphone, he bangs on strange drums completely ignoring the reggae beat... It's rebellious, or maybe it's just the indiscretion of youth. His sulky rampage is refreshing (I wonder what it would have sounded like if the microphone had been turned on). However, by the time of "Spirits In The Material World" two years later, he was completely different. Although the mime is still unnatural, he seems to have become more comfortable with acting, and he has become quite stylish. In later years, he has carefully created a world as "one of the ways of expressing the image of the song". This is a video work that not only shows the changes in his music and appearance, but also gives a glimpse of his journey to adulthood. This is a masterpiece that brings together many precious images with the master quality and editing skills unique to the BBC. It is a masterpiece of a rock program that is comfortable as a daily background video, nostalgic to look at, and interesting enough to immerse yourself in.
