“My first ***AHH! POISON in 1989 was in the midst of a huge boom, when they reached number 2 in the United States. A super masterpiece video that allows you to experience the full show at its best is now available. This work was filmed at “Middletown Performance on June 2, 1989.” It is a spectacular audience shot that records the whole story. The biggest points of this work are the gorgeous visual beauty, super active camera work, and the spectacular live performance itself. But before that, let's take a look at the show's position. Let's look back on their activities in 1989, which was a memorable performance in Japan.・January 13th - May 1st: North America #1 (76 performances) ・May 11th - June 16th: North America #2 (20 performances) ←★Here★ ・June 20th - 26th: Japan (4 performances) ・July 1st-15th: Oceania (9 performances) ・September 27th: Mobile performance The above is only the schedule for 1989, but "First ***AHH! ” was released in May of the previous year and was a huge hit. The tour started around that time and had already been touring North America for over a year. The final destination of the tour was Japan/Oceania, but the Middletown performance of this work was just before that. This was the 13th concert of "North America #2". This work recorded at such a show is truly the best. In terms of position, the arena seats look directly in front of the stage, and the field of view is unbelievably wide. Fists were raised in the lively venue, and there were glimpses of women being carried on shoulders, but for some reason, it didn't get in the way. The camera's viewpoint was strangely high (perhaps a tripod was used?), allowing it to pass far above the heads of the audience in front of it and look directly at the stage. Moreover, even though the camera work is extremely active, it is extremely stable. No, it's really amazing camera work. It captures the highlights from the front, but it also uses a lot of extremely fast zoom-ins and zoom-outs. Shaking the camera while zoomed tends to blur and make it difficult to see, but in this work, the targeted member is shown super close-up in the center, and when the other members are shown, the shot is pulled back to a full view. Then, take the next aim with a panoramic view and re-zoom all at once!! Pull back quickly, then quickly move closer... Repeat this process over and over again. It may seem difficult to watch when written like this, but it is not. A zoom that does not move left or right is similar to the feeling of concentrating your eyes, and by pulling back once you can grasp the entire stage (intuitively). It prevents you from zooming in and wondering "Where am I?", and because it allows you to aim, each member is held at a photographic angle. What's more, the zoom is synchronized with the beat, which is amazing. For example, when Bret Michaels makes a series of jumps (about 5 times per second) in time with a power chord, Kei Tani zooms in and out like a goachoon in time. This is a dynamic video work because the photographer himself truly enjoys the show and is in a good mood as he shoots it. What is depicted in such a super active video is a hair metal paradise that is exciting today. Of course, the sets include ``Poison Damage'' and ``My First ***AHH! ” concentration reduction. When it comes to live footage from the Golden Age, “SWALLOW THIS LIVE” is famous, so let’s organize the sets while comparing them. Poison Damage (4 songs) Look What the Cat Dragged In/I Want Action/I Won't Forget You (★)/Talk Dirty to Me First ***AHH! (8 songs)・Good Love/Back to the Rocking Horse(★)/Fallen Angel/Look But You Can't Touch(★)/Every Rose Has Its Thorn/Love on the Rocks/Your Mama Don't Dance/Nothin ' but a Good Time *Note: Songs marked with a "★" cannot be seen even in the official video "SWALLOW THIS LIVE". ...and it looks like this. Since the tour itself is different from "SWALLOW THIS LIVE", the set is also different, and the centerpiece is the new work at that time "First time ***AHH! ”. Out of the 10 songs on the album, they performed all of the songs except for ``Tearin' Down the Walls'' and ``Bad to Be Good.'' It is truly a "moving 2nd album" state. And the performance that spins the set is intense. At the time, they were a band that was ridiculed for their technical aspects, but that was because they were looking for the wrong thing. The fun of pop and catchy masterpieces is their true essence. For example, even the normally boring drum solos have a lot of fun tricks, and Ricky Rocket's phrasing is humorous (← This is important!) and makes you laugh. It is a gorgeous show in which such a world-class “FUN” rushes while giving off plenty of the momentum unique to a live performance. "Hair Metal" is a particularly special culture in the history of HR/HM, and is often ridiculed. However, the thoroughly professional “FUN” was filled with a catharsis that could not be experienced in any other music. This work allows you to experience the best of the band's heyday, which can be called the embodiment of that band. It's as good as a professional shot... No, it's an exquisite video where you can fully enjoy the acrobatic shots that were realized only because it was a one-camera audience. There aren't many rock videos this amazing.
