This recording was made in front of an A-rank audience at a June 19, 2004 performance by Pip Pile's Bash, the last leader unit of Pip Pile, who had been active since 2002. The quality is excellent, with a wonderful three-dimensional edge, and the ultimate ensemble is abundant from beginning to end. Surprisingly, there were only five live performances under the name of Pip Pile's Bash: a Seattle performance on August 16, 2002, which included Cauliflower Ears, Carousel, Beautiful Feeling, and Horny Brownie; a Triton performance on June 6, 2003; a Verviers performance on June 18, 2004, which included Social Reformers and Flowing; a Naiad performance on the 19th; and a Triton performance on the 23rd. No complete albums have ever been released in a package, so this release is a surprise for Canterbury fans. Since the 1980s, he has been active in Phil Miller's In Cahoots, as well as leading bands such as Equipe Out and releasing his solo album "7 Year Itch" (1998). The rhythm work expressed in this Bash is wonderful throughout, and the combination of effective sextuplets makes a huge impact on Vas-Y Dotty, and the unique sense of time that cannot be expressed in Pyle's scores is full of highlights. The members are also an attractive lineup of Fred Baker (In Cahoots), Patrice Meyer (Equipe Out), and Alex Maguire (who took charge of keyboards when Hatfield reorganized in 2005), and you will be captivated by the exquisite ensemble of the four well-coordinated people. In particular, the improvisation of "Bash", where the unique swell is perfectly synchronized, is definitely a must-listen. Also, you can enjoy tracks not included in the album such as Pastis Present, Bashee-Bouzouk, Take Your Pick, and Sha' Bop. This is a collection of Pyle's best playing. Disc 1/1. For Adiba 2. Vas-Y Dotty 3. Pastis Present 4. Beautiful Baguette 5. Bash 6. John's Fragment Disc 2/1. Bashee-Bouzouk 2. Sparky 3. Biffo's Bell Illusion 4. Spoutnik 5. Take Your Pick 6. Sha' Bop (Live at St.Jean-aux-Bois, Les Naiades, France 19th June 2004) Patrice Meyer - Guitar/ Alex Maguire - Keyboards, Piano/Fred Baker - Bass /Pip Pyle - Drums
