What happened during the studio sessions for those two albums, ``WISH YOU WERE HERE'' and ``ANIMALS.'' Introducing the master cassette that was present at the scene and breathed in the air directly. This time, what was brought through a unique route was the original Omoto cassette that was said to have been used at the studio work site. This work is a two-disc studio album that has been transferred to CD without leaving a single note. A few years ago, these two studio demo/outtake collections appeared, and it is still fresh in my memory that they shocked the world. That album was neatly structured with the intention of being a finished album, but this one is completely different. The work in the studio is vividly recorded, and some of the recordings do not form part of the song itself, some are repeated recordings, and the recordings have not been edited so that the artists themselves can listen to them again. It was exactly the “sound of a studio recording”. However, this does not mean that phrases that come to mind are lined up like a memo. Although it is unfinished, it has been mixed, and each song can be clearly understood...In fact, there are takes that closely resemble the previously released demos. The relationship between the master brought this time and the previously released demo is unknown, but it seems that this cassette is probably the actual one that was being passed around in the studio. Although it is impossible to confirm whether the take is a duplicate of an already released demo, there are tracks that are very similar in terms of working stage, sound, and performance. On top of that, there are plenty of sounds and “pauses” that are not present in the previous demos. Even though it's more than the previous demos, I don't see anything missing. Again, I apologize for being completely speculative, but I think someone may have taken out only the parts that are close to the finished album from this cassette, and passed it around and made it into the world as a demo...I was fascinated by the mystery. It's one of those things. Furthermore, the sound is so raw and natural that you can be sure that ``this is the source and starting point.'' Previous demo titles had editing marks and equalizing marks, but there are none in this work. Even the very faint hiss noise gives off a sense of the times 40 years ago, and above all, the flow of the song is so unedited. Unlike the previously released demo, which was made to resemble the official album, the song order is exactly as it was included on the actual cassette, with many gaps and even the same parts repeated. The trial and error in the studio is recreated exactly. One example is "Dogs" on disc 2. When the performance ends near the middle, it becomes silent, interspersed with snippets of synth sounds and click sounds. These ``fragments'' and ``intervals'' reek of speculation and even hesitation, such as ``Should I put something in here?'' It would have been great if there were conversations between the members, but even without that, each phrase, each sound, even silence conveys the feeling of breathing in the studio. To be honest, this work is not as musically complete as the previous demos/outtakes. Rather, it is a maniac two-disc set that revives the atmosphere in the studio from the cassettes that were present at the scene, and the cassettes that Roger and Gilmore would have touched. What happened in the studio where the masterpieces "WISH YOU WERE HERE" and "ANIMALS" were born, and what were the members thinking? What this work is packed with are the "sounds," "breath," and "smells" that are only allowed to be touched by those involved in its production. This ancient document is a must-see not only for those who dedicate their lives to Freud's research, but also for those who want to take a peek inside "that studio." A two-disc set that quietly sneaks into a secret room in London, to the scene of those famous records.
