This is amazing! A new stereo version has been discovered for the legendary FM recording of the precious "Atom Heart Mother with Chorus and Brass"! This long-awaited, massively upgraded Master 2CD is finally here! This work permanently preserves the "Montreux Performance, September 18, 1971." This is a stereo FM broadcast recording of the entire performance. You might be wondering, "What? An FM broadcast soundboard?" But the story isn't that simple. To explain the situation, let's start by sorting through the recordings from that day. RECORDER 1 (Audience Recording: Stereo) - A stereo audience recording unearthed in the 2000s. - Recorded with a Sennheiser MD-421 microphone and a Uher 4200 reel deck, the previously released "MONTREUX 1971 REVISITED" is the longest and best version of this recording. RECORDER 2-1 (FM broadcast source: mono) - A broadcast sound source from the Swiss FM station "Radio Suisse Romande." It was recorded with an ambient microphone instead of a line feed; previously, an air check recorded on three reel tape was known. RECORDER 2-2 (FM broadcast source: stereo) ←★This!★ - This is a broadcast sound source recorded with the same ambient microphone as "RECORDER 2-1," but in stereo. It's not just stereo, it's also an ultra-upgraded master that's overwhelmingly clear. ...And that's how it goes. This broadcast was recorded with an ambient microphone, like a classical concert, rather than a line feed. In other words, while it's a spatial recording that physically connects to the audience, the separation created by multiple microphones and the zero-distance feel of a microphone placed on the stage create a so-called soundboard-like quality. Until now, only air checks were known for such broadcast sound sources, but this time, a pre-FM master has been unearthed. Moreover, it's a stereo master that's completely different from conventional mono! The newly discovered stereo FM master, a global sensation, delivers a stunning sound. First of all, it offers the unique sense of width inherent in stereo. It's clearly not a pseudo-stereo effect, and the three-dimensional effect of the central rhythm section surrounded by the guitar (left) and keyboard (right) is something never before experienced. While "RECORDER 1" was also stereo, it offers a spatial spectacle on a different level from a single-mic audience recording. It's not just wide; it evolves with the musical mood. Depending on the song, the keyboard is centered, while the guitar spreads left and right. While detailed data is lacking, the shifts in balance and positioning likely indicate that the sounds recorded with each microphone were mixed on a soundboard. This is also why I didn't explicitly mention the "audience/soundboard" aspect at the beginning. And because this work focuses on PINK FLOYD in 1971, this stereo effect is particularly pleasing. At the time, FLOYD was a force that advanced rock by revolutionizing three-dimensional venue acoustics. This work accurately portrays the band's stereo sense, giving a clear sense of their goals and the soundscape they were trying to create. The stereo sense of the complete master sound is comparable to that of pre-FM recordings...or even more striking is the freshness of pre-broadcast recordings. While I've been concerned about the dubbing of air-check tapes, this work shows no trace of dubbing, let alone radio waves. The literal master sound is on a completely different level from the conventional superiority and inferiority. In fact, the sound is clearer and more natural than I've ever experienced before. The resolution of each note is unparalleled, even the most subtle sound effects are beautifully preserved, and long notes stretching into the void don't distort until they disappear. The sound is so delicate you can almost feel the instruments' bodies resonating, and it's so natural it almost brings the concert space itself back to life. This complete version, a new master recording that breaks the previous record by more than three minutes, is an astonishing new discovery, but it's also the longest and highest-ever update. While meticulous mastering by GRAF ZEPPELIN has been applied down to the finest details, what's even more impressive is the length. Utilizing the existing RECORDER 1 and RECORDER 2-1, all existing scenes have been reproduced. This marks a new record, more than three minutes longer than ever before. Of course, there's no need to worry about any awkwardness. The new master itself includes a complete recording of every song from the show, including plenty of first appearances not heard on previous recordings. Utilizing all of this, other sources complemented the inter-song and few-second MC moments. While these were not scenes where sound quality differences were an issue, meticulous mastering eliminated any awkwardness. The 1971 Montreux recording was beloved for its "Atom Heart Mother with chorus and brass." However, this Pre-FM master elevates it to even greater heights. The sound quality alone makes this a masterpiece of 1971, rivaling "THE COMPLETE BBC ARCHIVES VOL.2 1971-1974" and "M-502 DEFINITIVE EDITION." While "MONTREUX 1971 REVISITED" is still hard to discard due to its authentic audience experience, the mono FM broadcast "RECORDER 2-1" is no longer relevant. This is a massive upgraded masterpiece, the biggest impact in recent years. This is the pre-FM master of the "Montreux Performance on September 18, 1971." While previously only known as a mono aircheck, this release is a completely different stereo version. The freshness is astounding, with no dubbing or even radio broadcasting, and "GRAF ZEPPELIN" utilized other sound sources to create an ultimate version that's over three minutes longer than the previous version. This live album, featuring "Atom Heart Mother with Choir and Brass," has been significantly upgraded to become a new masterpiece. This is truly amazing! This is undoubtedly the most anticipated Floyd release of the year! This '71 Montreux performance, familiar to fans, has been dramatically upgraded with the Rec2 mono FM sound source being upgraded to stereo! There are two recordings for this show (see list below). The Sigma 317 release released around the same time featured Rec1 (stereo Audio). This time, the Rec2 FM sound source is the main source, but unlike the mono FM sound source we've heard up until now, the stereo Pre-FM sound source is the most notable feature, providing an ultra-high-quality, detailed recording that lives up to its reputation. Instrument separation is also excellent, with guitar on the left, drums and bass generally centered, and keyboards on the right. However, depending on the song, the keyboards are centered or the guitars are spread out to the left and right, creating a truly vivid and realistic sound. This quality is undoubtedly the arrival of an ultra-high-quality title that will undoubtedly be in the top three of Floyd's 1971 albums. The recording content has also been significantly updated! Some missing tracks have been filled in with Rec2 FM Mono and Rec1 Stereo, but there are quite a few first-time inter-song and final cheering parts, resulting in a total of more than three minutes longer than previously released! This is sure to put even the old TSP board to shame! A must-have album, no questions asked!
