This CD features the two-night show in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on July 13th and 14th, which took place during the 1988 Euro tour following the release of "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" in 1987. Both shows were released on taper in recent years, and are in excellent condition at the time. While the band's subsequent North American tour saw filming and live recordings at the Nassau Coliseum in preparation for the official "Hikari: PERFECT LIVE!" live CD and video release, and several audio recordings have been made of other shows, this Euro tour recording, despite featuring a similar set and song selection, has not been widely available. The opening began with the first half of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," and the first part featured numbers from "A Momentary Aspect Ratio" album, with Gilmour's fantastic solos particularly noteworthy in the terrifying "Dogs Of War" and the dynamic "On The Turning Away." The second half of the set featured Floyd classics, starting with "One Of These Days" and including the best sections from "The Dark Side of the Moon," "The Fire," and "The Wall." Both shows were packed with highlights, including the explosive ending of "On The Run," the piercing female vocals in "The Great Gig In The Sky," the 80s-inspired percussion arrangement in "Us And Them," and Gilmour's solos in "Money" and "Comfortably Numb." Incidentally, the official "Hikari: PERFECT LIVE!" album includes tracks such as "On The Run" and "The Great Gig In The Sky" from "The Dark Side of the Moon," as well as "Welcome To The Machine" and "Signs Of Life" from "A Momentary Aspect Ratio," so be sure to check them out.
