The famous recording, called "Ura Umagauma" and "Umagauma on-site experience" by maniacs, has been upgraded. The definitive version, which further brushes up the new master, is now available for permanent preservation. This work is recorded at the "May 9, 1969 Southampton University" performance. It is the best audience recording. Why "Ura Umagauma" is the content and position of the show. To explain its meaning, let's first look back at the outline of the activities at that time. {January-February: Production of "More"} January 10th-February 1st: UK #1 (7 shows) February 12th-March 27th: Europe #1 (22 shows) April 14th-June 10th: Europe #2a (21 shows) ←★Here★ {June 13th: Release of "More"} June 13th-July 4th: Europe #2b (14 shows) July 20th-November 7th: Europe #3 (36 shows) {November 7th: Release of "Umaguma"} November 26th-December 6th: UK #2 (5 shows) This is PINK FLOYD in 1969. The detailed data varies slightly depending on the source, so please do not trust the exact number of shows, but I think you can understand the approximate scale and flow. It was a year of progress with the release of two works, "More" and "Ummaguma", and the live disc of "Ummaguma" was recorded on "Europe #2a". And the performance at Southampton University in this work is also a record of this "Europe #2a". Let's zoom in further on "Europe #2" to get a sense of how close the show is. Details of "Europe #2" ・April 14-26 (5 performances) ・April 27 Birmingham performance ←※ Official UMMAGUMMA ・May 2 Manchester performance ←※ Official UMMAGUMMA ・May 3 London performance ・May 9 London + Southampton performance ←★ Here ★ ・May 10-June 10 (11 performances) 《June 13 "More" released》 ・June 13-July 4 (14 performances) These are the details of "Europe #2". This work was just one week after the Manchester performance of "Umaguma", and it was a very close stage after three performances (although the performance at Southampton University was "May 9th", two performances were held on this day, and it is said that the show started after the date changed to "May 10th" the following day). Speaking of FLOYD titles in 1969, "UNCUT CONCERTGEBOUW 1969" and "AMOUGIES POP & JAZZ FESTIVAL 1969" are also fresh in my memory, but both works are "Europe # 3" more than four months apart. This close timing is also seen in the performance, which is why it is called "Ura Umaguma" and "Umaguma on-site experience board". [Newly excavated 2nd generation reel beyond 1st generation] The introduction alone has become long, but the biggest point of this work is that it is an upgrade version of such a famous recording. In fact, this recording has been known for a long time and has become a standard in our shop as the gift board "UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON 1969". That gift was the old best version, but this work was recently announced and is a new master that is exciting collectors all over the world at this moment. Moreover, this work is based on the master of the topic, and with an additional step, it has been updated to the highest peak. It is a "supreme one" that has been upgraded in several stages. So how is it upgraded? Let's start with the "Net New Master" that was the base. The old best version was the 1st generation, but this time it was announced as the "2nd generation". For a moment, I thought it was a downgrade, but this was actually different. In the case of vintage recordings, the superiority or inferiority is not simply determined by the generation alone. The dubbing accuracy and the storage condition of the master also greatly affect the sound. In fact, the "2nd generation" this time quickly wipes away the rough feeling that covered the entire story, and each sound extends beautifully. It completely surpasses the conventional version (1st generation). [The "May version" master was rearranged and released again] The first appearance of the 2nd Gen was in April 2022. However, the one that is currently being talked about is the "May 2022" version, which is different from the previous one. Both were released after adding a little extra work to the natural transfer, but it seems that they were not satisfied with the finish of the "April version", so they rearranged it and re-released it. The base of this work is also the "May version", which is also very wonderful. Although the performance sound was improved in the "April version", there was also a "katakata" running noise of the master reel. The "May version" does not have that noise and is even more lustrous. Another maniac point is the beginning of "Astronomy Domine". After Roger calls the song name, the intro starts, and the song name is entered again with Roger's voice. Apparently, this is due to an on-site effect. It seems that Roger's voice is picked up and played after the intro starts. However, in the "April version" master, this was misunderstood as tape deterioration and one was deleted. In this "May version", this also remains twice as it was on-site. [Unique mastering by Tensei that meshes everything] This work is based on the highest peak "May version" master, and is the highest peak update board that added "one more step" at the end. That step is band analysis and balance adjustment by "GRAF ZEPPELIN". There is no doubt that the "May version" master without playback noise is the highest peak, but the mid-high range was slightly depressed due to the removal process, and the tone was dull overall. In that respect only, the "April version" was more natural and superior. Therefore, this work finely analyzes the highest peak "May version" master for each band and reproduces the balance of the "April version" as it should be. We have achieved the highest peak "updated" sound that combines "noiseless beauty" and "natural feeling of the original recording". Compared to the work of excavating the 2nd generation and removing noise, this last step is not big. However, this one step makes the music sound better and the reality of the era is completely different. It is a touch of "finishing" only for this work. "Ura Umaguma" was not only upgraded from the original, but was realized with great care at each stage. This is the highest peak update. A historical album that allows you to be in the same space as the four people who created the historic masterpiece. The best audience recording of the performance "Southampton University on May 9, 1969". The newly excavated 2nd generation reel is in better condition than the conventional 1st generation, and the glossy sound that is no longer rough like the conventional version is overwhelming. Moreover, the best master with no reel playback noise was used, and the slightly weak mid-high range was adjusted to a natural balance with unique mastering. This is a cultural heritage album of British rock history that allows you to fully experience the extremely close stage about one week after the "Umaguma" live edition with a sound that updates the highest peak. (Remastering memo) The RevA version, which was released in April and then re-released in May, has been slightly remastered. Both are based on the 2nd GEN, but the 2nd GEN was chosen because it was in better condition than the 1st and master. In the RevA version used this time, the noise that was originally present in the April version when the reels were rotating has been somewhat reduced, making it easier to listen to, but on the other hand, there are some parts where the frequency range has decreased, so corrections have been made mainly to the mid-to-high range.
