Unreleased scenes are now available! The 1970 KQED film footage, which was also included in the official version, is finally here in its complete version after 48 years! The 1970 KQED film of Pink Floyd is a familiar sight to fans. This footage was recorded in an empty studio at the Fillmore Auditorium during the band's first North American tour in 1970, at the request of KQED, a small local TV station in San Francisco, USA. This famous footage, which was also included in the official box set "The Early Years 1965-1972," which collected unreleased sound sources and footage from Floyd's early days, was recorded live by the station's broadcast camera and sent to a mobile unit (a huge mobile truck the size of a box car that holds video recording equipment) parked outside the facility, and the recording was captured on a 2-inch videotape owned by the station. Although the first broadcast was local, the footage became a legend and was broadcast nationwide in 1973, and it is also known that it was broadcast simultaneously on KSAN-FM. In the 1970s, when home video decks were not yet widespread, many unofficial records containing the audio of these radio broadcasts appeared, but the fact that the essential video was highlighted with astonishing image quality and sound was due in large part to the contribution of Harvested's DVD "KQED," which released unofficial Floyd audio and video material online. This was based on the beautiful video footage from a VHS tape recording of a 1980 rebroadcast, and the audio was synthesized using KQED's "3/4" U-Matic sub-master (mono), and the high-performance video, audio, and finish fascinated and amazed many fans. This was released on DVD + CD in early 2009 as "AN HOUR WITH PINK FLOYD," which caused a great stir, and since then it has become a staple of KQED video. However, at the end of November 2017, a major shock hit the situation. KQED made a surprising announcement that they had unearthed about 30 minutes of live footage of the performance that was filmed for this program at the time but was not included in the actual broadcast program. This included the performance of "Astronomy Domine," which was the first time it had ever been performed, and KQED, which was given the exclusive right to premiere only this one song, released the video on their official website, and it is still fresh in our memory that Floyd fans around the world screamed with joy. Although it was only one song, it was Floyd-approved and KQED's official video, so of course the video quality was of guaranteed high quality, and the audio was also excellent because the station's engineers cleaned up the original 2-inch master as much as possible. So this latest work is here to summarize this series of events. Based on the latest remastered version of the video, the released "Astronomy Domine" has been added to the main story, and the song order, which had been rearranged according to the broadcast content in each previously released version, has been rearranged to the actual performance order with reference to the performances before and after this video recording. This is the first attempt at this release. In addition, the recording date, which was previously April 29th, has been confirmed to be April 30th due to recent research and KQED's comments, so the credits have been revised to April 30th to ensure historical accuracy. And as an additional upper point, this work has two sound styles. It has a pseudo-stereo with reverb added to the home screen in 2018, and even an audio switching function that allows you to select the original mono sound! The fresh feeling of the pseudo-stereo sound is vivid from the title screen scene at the beginning. The drum roll playing in the background spreads wide in L/R from the beginning, carving out a memory of a brand new, never-before-experienced sound. The sound of the two acoustic guitars in "Grantchester Meadows," with improved skin color and vividness, is sharper, and the layered structure of the romantic singing voice of Gilmour, with its improved resolution, and the sweet tones of the flute and Mellotron will awaken an unprecedented emotion. And finally, "Astronomy Domine" will bring you a heart-warming and euphoric feeling that will leave you speechless. The performance formation of this day, projected from an angle you have never seen before, emerges with beautiful images and sound, and in the close-ups of each member, you can see every single hair beautifully, and even the thin first string of the guitar appears with a resolution that allows you to clearly see it. The way the lighting hits the instruments and shines is also sharp, and everyone will be amazed at the appearance of each member moving in official-grade images with almost no color bleeding or fading. In the scene in the middle of the video, the lights are on and there are many close-ups of his hands, and the melody line of his left hand, which is almost invisible when listening to the sound alone, the sound adjustment by turning the knobs and the timing of the tone switch switching, which are usually difficult to see, are clearly shown, and you can enjoy the secrets and passion of such creative expression that exudes from the performance again and again. "Cymbaline" has also become pseudo-stereo, which expands the transparency and spatiality of the place that is different from the previously released sound. When the song starts again after the footsteps, the faint sound of the guitar is remarkably sharp, and with the improved image quality, you can enjoy the more satisfying image. "Atom Heart Mother" pays attention to the ensemble at the beginning, and here the sound is revived with a sense of density that is more accurate to write "towering" than rising, and the mid-range listening comfort is completely different from mono. In terms of the visuals, the desolate fields and swamps of the San Joaquin Valley, shot from the air, look even more vivid, and the harmony between Gilmore and Wright, which is shown along the way, can be followed with even more vivid images, which is a nice topic. In "Careful With That Axe, Eugene," the clear tone of the guitar has a remastered feel, and the ensemble that moves boldly after the scream also has a pseudo-stereo that spreads from the mid-range to the high-range, bringing a completely different listening experience than before. In "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun," the muddiness and flatness peculiar to mono in the low range has been improved, and the entire sound can be enjoyed with a more three-dimensional and deep sound image. Another feature is that Gilmore's use of the slide bar to produce ornamental sounds comes out with a floating sound (※ previously it was somewhat buried), and similarly the sounds of mallets hitting the toms and the sounds of the gongs (※ and the vividness of the lighting) come out with the highest texture ever, appealing to the eyes and ears with the highest quality ever. Of course, the traditional mono version that can be selected by switching the audio is also recorded in PCM uncompressed audio. This is a perfect piece that you will want to keep as a permanent KQED video. The wonder of the unknown is revived... The best part of this latest work is that you can enjoy the great discovery of "Astronomy Domine" with special video and audio. However, the full-scale remastering and fresh renewal feeling that never ends there, including the audio switching function, are realized everywhere, which is also a big leap from past KQED titles. 48 years after the original broadcast, the complete version of KQED's apex video and apex sound has finally been released in a tall case with a strong presence!
