1973 Rainbow Theater performance known for “Robert Wyatt Benefit.” Introducing a definitive edition that completely records all of the two performances in one day with the best sound ever. The original story dates back to June 1973. Former SOFT MACHINE drummer Robert Wyatt was active with MATCHING MOLE at the time, but he got drunk at a party and had an accident, falling from the fifth floor. Although he survived, he became paralyzed from the waist down and his career as a drummer ended. PINK FLOYD stepped up to help Wyatt out of his plight. They had an old friendship with Wyatt from their club days, and Wyatt also participated in Syd Barrett's "THE MADCAP LAUGHS." The planned benefit concert was realized on November 4, 1973. At that time, “DARK SIDE OF THE MOON TOUR 1972-1973” had already ended, but it was a special performance that was held only two times a day. Since this is a good opportunity, let's take a look at the overall picture of "DARK SIDE OF THE MOON TOUR". ・January 17th - February 20th, 1972: UK #1 (18 performances) ・March 6th - 13th, 1972: Japan (6 performances) ・March 29th & 30th, 1972: UK #2 ( 2 performances) April 14-May 4, 1972: North America #1 (17 performances) ・May 18-29, 1972: Europe #1 (5 performances) (approximately 3 months later) ・September 8-30, 1972: North America #2 (17 performances) ・1972 October 21st - December 10th: Europe #2 (22 performances)・January 13th - February 4th, 1973: France (4 performances) ・March 4th - 24th, 1973: North America #3 (17 performances) ・May 18th & 19th, 1973: UK #3 ( 2 performances)・June 1973 17th-29th: North America #4 (13 performances)《About 4 months later》・October 12 & 13, 1973: Europe #3 (2 performances)・November 4, 1973: Rainbow Theater (2 performances per day) Performance) [This work] This is the whole story of “DARK SIDE OF THE MOON TOUR”. The main part of the tour ended at the end of June 1973, and the concert was held for about four months. And, this work is also the last performance of the “Madness” era. This work, which was also a milestone concert, is a 2-disc set that includes the full set of "EARLY SHOW" on disc 1 and "LATE SHOW" on disc 2. On this day, SOFT MACHINE was the opening act, and there were two performances a day, so each performance was a short set of about 70 minutes. Normally, the tour consisted of two parts, but on this day it was not divided, and after all the songs of "Madness", it was the composition that closed the curtain with "Obscured By Clouds" and "When You're In". Furthermore, the two songs "Obscured By Clouds" and "When You're In" were removed from the setlist after the following year's French tour, and this was the last performance, so this concert is worth attention in that respect as well. Yes. Now, this special performance. In fact, recordings have been known for a long time, and to date two recordings of the two performances (four in total) have been discovered. This time, the world-famous FLOYD research authority has provided us with unprocessed masters of all four books. When I played this, all four songs far exceeded the previous releases. Not only the generation, but the unprocessed naturalness was overwhelming, and the upgraded sound that had a rich vintage feel and great freshness came out. This work is a two-disc set that makes full use of these four unprocessed masters and has been completed to the best possible version under the supervision of an authority. Let's briefly summarize each configuration. [Disc 1: EARLY SHOW (5pm performance)]・RECORDER 1・RECORDER 2: Main disc 1 [Disc 2: LATE SHOW (9pm performance)]・RECORDER 1: Main disc 2・RECORDER 2 Very simple However, that is the content of this work. “RECORDER 1” and “RECORDER 2” are known for both performances, but neither was a complete recording. Therefore, I used the good-sounding ``EARLY SHOW RECORDER 2'' and ``LATE SHOW RECORDER 1'' as the main masters, and made up for the shortage from the other master. The supplementary parts are 2 minutes and 27 seconds at the beginning of Disc 1 “Speak To Me” and 4 seconds in the intro of Disc 2 “Any Color You Like”. All of these are made by splicing together separate recordings, but the precise mastering work eliminates any sense of incongruity as much as possible. Of course, we did not try to forcefully change the sound quality and spoil the "sound" of the unprocessed master, but we were able to create a result that was so natural that the joints were almost invisible. This is also a result of the freshness of the unprocessed master itself. In fact, this unprocessed master is truly amazing. Especially on disc 1, there are some noises and sound breaks in the previous releases. Even though the sound itself wasn't bad, it was still stressful. However, this master has almost no noise or cutting. You can enjoy the entire movie seamlessly and beautifully. Disc 2 on the other hand is also wonderful. Although it is a famous recording for the previously released bootleg “OBSCURED AT RAINBOW”, this work is further upgraded. With stereo audience recording that gives a sense of spaciousness, you can enjoy the realistic sound that seems to have been recorded close to the stage in higher quality. Even when compared to other performances from the same period, it is clear how the sound was traveling around the venue, such as the SE that made full use of 4ch surround called azimuth coordinator and Rick Wright's solo in "Any Color You Like". This can be said to be the noteworthy point of this sound source. You can fully immerse yourself in the clear beautiful sound of Disc 1 or more that has been seamlessly revived. An unprocessed master who appeared in the world after 43 years. We have reproduced all of the two performances in one day, making full use of that beautiful sound. The last performance of the "Madness" era that can be enjoyed with the best sound ever.
