The now hard-to-find analog record "ROME 20-6-1971" has been newly transferred from the mint quality master! The new sound source of "ROME 1971" (3CD) is a hot topic, but for fans of the past, when it comes to Pink Floyd's 1971 Rome performance, "ROME 20-6-1971" is what comes to mind. Until the mid-1980s, it was a title that was relatively easy to find in shops, but now it has become a rare record that is difficult to obtain. There are many scenes that have been cut due to the recording time of the LP record, and the high quality of the overall sound quality has been passed on to the new generation that will be introduced this time, but on the other hand, it is true that the richness of the volume peculiar to analog records is unique to this record. In terms of "goodness and sharpness of the high range", it is by no means inferior to the new source used for "ROME 1971" (3CD) (※ In fact, in many parts it is superior), and its value of existence is still unshakable. When I try to write down the charm of the master recording that still stands out even after the new source has appeared, I think that the guitar part of "Atom Heart Mother" is the one where the texture is particularly good. In particular, the solos that unfold from 3:55 to 11:21 are clearer and more powerful than the main press, and the fact that the organ also has a more vivid and sharp sound is particularly noteworthy. On the other hand, "Fat Old Sun" feels unsatisfactory in quality due to the muddiness of the low range and some sound fluctuation and sound cracking, but even here the clarity of the high range (again the guitar and organ) compensates for this, and the romantic floating feeling and lingering sound of the song are beautifully maintained, which is surprising even when listening to it now. Although "The Embryo" is inferior to the new source in terms of the overall sound image, the source is better in terms of the "direct hit of the sound", and the lack of tape hiss is also an advantage. The new source has a clear and rich elasticity in the mid-to-low range, but lacks the explosiveness of the high range and contains a fair amount of hiss. However, on the other hand, the new source has the advantage that it is completely recorded up to the announcement after the end of the song, so it would be a good idea to check which one you prefer with this work. "The Return Of The Sons Of Nothing" often has a metallic sound that is tinged with ears, but the fact that there is no hiss noise is its greatest strength. There is no sound loss in the left channel, which exists only for a moment at 22:35 in the new source, and you will be surprised again that the initial take of "Echoes", which has significantly different lyrics, was recorded with such excellent sound quality in the LP era. With the appearance of the new source, the 1971 Rome performance has finally been recorded on a disc. In other words, this is a guide to the 21st century sound of this sound source. And if that is the case, it is necessary to listen to the sound of this nostalgic LP again now. This is because rediscovering the potential of the master that has been loved for a long time can be said to accurately grasp the potential and position of the new source. Also, no matter how new the source, I think there are still many fans who want to experience this Rome performance with the sound of this LP. This edition, which reproduced the mint quality master with Sigma's latest equipment and the skills of a skilled engineer, meets the expectations of the direct transfer, which is the best part, so you can enjoy the encounter with that nostalgic sound. The master LP that cannot be left out when talking about Rome in 1971.
