Introducing an excellent title that is suitable for a deeper understanding of Pink Floyd in 1988! ``NASSAU COLISEUM 1988'', released two weeks ago, is the only superb leaked soundboard sound source of 1988, using modern remastering technology. It is still fresh in the memory that it was a definitive edition title with a new and perfect sound quality. However, in that case, I am also curious about the sound source that captured Floyd in 1988 at its highest value as an "audience recording". This weekend, a live recording will be released that captures the charm of Floyd in 1988 with the best sound quality from the audience seats, and perfectly records the charm of this period's performance. It was mastered from the 1st generation tape of the "Villeneuve-d'Ascq" performance held in Lille, France on July 28, 1988, and even though the audience was recorded in 2.0 channel, it sounds as if you were listening to it in surround sound. This is a complete set of 3 uncut CDs that captures a close sound image, and even includes the sound check of the day!! This sound source was previously released as ``DELUSIONS OF MATURITY''. , it is true that it uses a master that seems to be from the 2nd generation or later, the pitch is ambiguous, and that it was forced to fit on 2CD, giving it a somewhat cramped impression. However, recently a long version of the 1st generation was discovered as the sound source used for this title, and it became a hot topic among enthusiasts. This work uses the latest equipment recently introduced by Sigma in 2015 to carefully examine the longest version of the 1st generation, correct pitch that was partially distorted, perform strict noise reduction that does not affect the original sound, and This is a truly gem remastered sound that brings out the best brush-up effect currently possible by applying the best equalization to enhance the outline and texture of the sound image. It is also the longest version, so it contains all the sounds recorded on the 1st Generation master on a spacious 3CD, and it also includes 4 bonus tracks of the sound check of the day, which is also very good. Don't miss the vivid content! The performance is top-notch, and it is noteworthy that there are plenty of key points that you can't miss. For example, the beginning of "Shine On You..." on this day had a richer sense of color than in other performances, and it seemed like Gilmore was playing the guitar more actively than usual, giving a performance full of power and creativity. I think you can tell from the beginning that this is the case. There is no stagnation in the closeness of the passionate vocal lines, the sound from the keyboard, and the way the chorus sounds, and you will intuitively know that the overall sound image is the best sound with a tough core. The low range at the beginning of "Yet Another Movie" reaches your ears without any blurring, and the performance sound that makes you feel the structure of the song after it starts moving is also superb. The ascending tone towards the coda that begins around 6 minutes 01 seconds into the final stage clearly conveys how the three-dimensional sound diffuses throughout the hall, but this is the sound that can be heard on disc 3-(4). If you listen to the same scene in the check (from 5 minutes 23 seconds), you can also confirm that the low-pitched melody of the keyboard, which was missing for some reason in the rehearsal, is being played well. “A New Machine Part 1” has been recorded with an irresistible echoey feel, and seeing this carried over into “Terminal Frost” and further developing it gives me goosebumps. In particular, the saxophone tone that comes in from the middle has a very powerful sound, and the subtle keyboard ornaments that are ringing around it, the narration SE, and the guitar that doesn't stand out too much all have the same level of sound as they should. You should be able to see that it is perfectly positioned. In "Sorrow", the talkative guitar that continues to sing endlessly from the middle to the end of the song enlivens the performance of this day, but at the same time, this scene is not a sound board, so the charm of the expanding sound image is very strong. . In "The Dogs Of War," the explosive power of the massive sound born from the mid-tempo stands out more than ever, with Gilmore singing passionately, the chorus that comes in as a matching move, and the catchy feel of the saxophone. You will be able to appreciate how dense it is. In "One Of These Days", I don't know whether it was intentional or a mistake, but the big feature is that the bass at the beginning starts from a different scale, and the difference in tone suddenly pops out with a vivid sound. Masu. When the guitar starts singing from the middle of the song, the contrast between the high and low ranges is clearer than ever before, so please check it out. And what is surprising is the closeness of the sound that further improves from “Wish You Were Here”. Probably the recording position has changed slightly from just before this song starts (*You can see that the sound image changes at 4 minutes 46 seconds after the end of the previous song "The Great Gig In The Sky"), and the sound quality is poor from here to the end of the disc. It will improve dramatically. "Welcome To The Machine" has a buzzer sound coming from the left channel in the beginning, and a heavy feeling of the main melody that solemnly emerges from the front, which is a marked improvement from the sound that I was used to. You will be able to fully feel that the sound image from 6 minutes 04 seconds onwards contains amazing music and sound images. "Us And Them" also has the reverberation of the vocal line and the strength of the core performance sound, and when you listen to it, you realize how much the sound image on the previous release lacked density. I think you will be able to see for yourself how full of vitality the performance here was, and you will be able to feel its true power. “Money” features a wide variety of front instruments, chorus, main vocals, and other sounds that are widely used from low to high ranges, and they unfold with exquisite sound. In particular, it was clearly reported how much the dull brass sound of the saxophone shook the atmosphere of the venue, and the depth of the texture of the bass's crisp sound and the straight appearance of the hard ornaments of the keyboard made you feel the power of the 1st generation. I don't think anyone will be there. In "Comfortably Numb," the damp sound rises with overwhelming resolution, and you can easily understand that many beautiful shadows are created within the multilayered structure of the advancing melody. The development section, which starts around 4 minutes and 48 seconds, has Gilmore making the guitar cry here and there, with a melody that seems to cut through the space, a skillful way of cutting the sound, and a way of letting the sound rest. The chicness reaches its peak and hits your heart. Disc 3 contains 4 tracks of encore and sound check of the day. In "One Slip," the attack of the strings in the mid-bass solo is played with wonderful resonance, and the powerful and tough performance reaches your ears with a high-density sound rich in information. "Run Like Hell" is attractive for its good visibility and sound clarity. Enjoy the excellent sound quality of the right weight of the bass and the vivid tone of the melody line as it bounces and leaps toward the end of the show. Track (3) is a bonus track that records the sound check of the day. The recording begins near the end of "Learning To Fly", and you can see that the bass and drums continue to be checked after the end of the song. “Yet Another Movie” starts with a light guitar check (probably Gilmore’s) at the beginning, and then begins rehearsal for the main part, and it is impressive that the performance is as detailed as the actual performance. Also, as I wrote about the same song on Disc 1-(4), the development of the bass melody from 5 minutes 23 seconds towards the end is something to listen to, so be sure to check it out. Also, what is interesting about these trucks (3) to (6) is that you can sometimes hear the sound of what seems to be an equipment carrier (?) moving from side to side, and you can feel the vivid sense of being there. Another topic is that for some reason, the sound of dogs barking can be heard in some places, and this seems like an SE check at the beginning of "The Dogs Of War", but in (3) and (4) it can be heard from the left channel a little further away. On the other hand, in (5), the barking can be heard coming from quite close to the right, so it may be a real dog that was there. However, whether it's the sound of a moving truck or a dog, there are sounds that normally wouldn't be included in that position in the song, so it's possible to get a close-up view of how the music of the day is being created. It can be said that it is attractive that the view is closer and the feeling of privacy is increased. There are many sound sources from the tour accompanying the album ``Utsu / A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON'', but I think the summer of 1988 was a special time among them. The value of this work is immeasurable because not only is the excellent performance of that special period completely recorded with excellent sound quality as the longest version using the 1st generation, but you can also listen to the sound check of that day. This day's performance, which will surely become the representative title of Floyd's 1988 summer Euro tour, will be the first release, but it will be filled with the joy of being around 1988 Floyd at his best. It will be given to you. Stadium du Nord, Villeneuve d'Ascq, Lille, France 28th July 1988 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc 1(65:59) 1. Shine On You Crazy Diamond 2. Signs Of Life 3. Learning To Fly 4.
