``The true final work that concludes the glorious history''...It's too heavy a proposition to say, but this is the arrival of the ultimate studio album that can only be described as such. Of course, PINK FLOYD's final work is "THE ENDLESS RIVER." This album was born from the ``THE DIVISION BELL'' sessions held in 1993, and the original idea was that ``THE DIVISION BELL'' and ``THE ENDLESS RIVER'' were to be one piece. In fact, when Nick Mason released ``THE ENDLESS RIVER,'' he said, ``We were thinking of making ``DIVISION BELL'' a double album. Half songs, half ambient. ``THE ENDLESS.'' RIVER' is more of an ambient genre.'' In response to these words, PINK FLOYD's researchers formed a team and took on the challenge of creating the ``original 2-disc THE DIVISION BELL'', and this work is the result of their research and passion (the title is ``THE DIVISION BELL''). (from the lyrics “The water flowing / The endless river / Forever and ever” from “High Hopes”). Roughly speaking, this work is "THE DIVISION BELL + THE ENDLESS RIVER". However, it is not simply a combination of two albums rearranged and connected. Of course, the two albums are the main focus, but various materials are used to connect them. Extra takes of bonus tracks, soundscapes of "PULSE", leaked demos, alternate edit takes of 12-inch singles and cassette versions, even the soundtrack of "THE COLOURS OF INFINITY", etc.... Traces of the 1993 session that still exist. I'm collecting all of them. And the editing is also elaborate. It has been reconstructed into ``Six Suites'', but of course they are not put together randomly, but by examining the same phrases and sound effects of similar words from various sources one by one, and deciphering the lyrics. , they are reproducing the ``ideas of the original session'' by understanding the intentions from various statements. His research goes beyond the so-called "song order" level. From the opening "Cluster One", the soundscape of "PULSE" is added, making it more than a minute longer than the album, and the following "Allons-y" connects the 2014 version without overdubs, and in the middle part is expanded with leaked sound sources (unused in the album). Also, if you look at the song list, you will notice that "Surfacing" is not included, but this does not mean that it was cut. Remove the middle section of "Poles Apart" and insert it there to recreate its original appearance. The removed middle section has been repositioned as "Carnival Relations." Like “Carnival Relations,” there is also the unfamiliar track “First In Space,” which was inspired by the soundscape of “PULSE.” The title of the song was taken from the slogan "still first in space" printed on their tour T-shirts... I have introduced only the most noticeable parts of the song, but these are just examples. These processes are so elaborate throughout the entire story that there is no time to list them all. Furthermore, his editing skills are superb. At first, the team of researchers seemed to think it was just a matter of rearranging the parts, but when it came time to replace them, they became greedy. It bridges the 20-year difference in sound between the albums, and precisely aligns the pitches that were off in the leaked sound sources, like a spaceship rendezvous... The result is a finished product that goes beyond the joints and sounds like a ``finished product.'' Apparently, the person in charge of the work seems to be the maniac who created LED ZEPPELIN's "THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME EXPANDED", but I don't think he would do this even with a delicate studio recording... It is a level of perfection that I would like to call "paranoid" with all my respect. The resulting two-disc set of ``6 suites'' is a different dimension and musical world from ``THE DIVISION BELL'' and ``THE ENDLESS RIVER''. The ambient songs add even more depth and flow to the vocal songs of ``THE DIVISION BELL,'' and the world of ``THE ENDLESS RIVER'' gains its ``core'' from the vocal songs. Songs and phrases born from the same session tell a “new story” and show off a different world of music. The two-disc set ``THE DIVISION BELL'' was realized by a team of world-renowned researchers. The question, ``Is it really as it should be?'' is difficult for the uneducated and uninformed to understand, so I have no choice but to rely on your discerning eyes. However, what is definitely clear is the depth of research, the depth of the spirit of inquiry, and the intense amount of work that went into this work. "PINK FLOYD's 'true final work'" mentioned at the beginning is an extremely frightening phrase, but this is a masterpiece that cannot be expressed in any other way. Forever and Ever, a mashup of The Division Bell and The Endless River designed to make The Division Bell less radio-friendly and The Endless River less avant garde.
