1975 marked a major turning point in Pink Floyd's live sound. They broke away from the floating sound image that they had created up until then, to a hard rock sound that felt rugged. Until 1974, he could barely retain his former image, but when he toured the United States the following year, he suddenly transformed into a rock-hard Floyd. It also reflected the situation in America, where “The Dark Side Of The Moon” was a big hit, and the situation where live performances had to be performed at stadium-class venues. The new song "Raving And Drooling" introduced from the previous year clearly showed the change in sound during the American tour, and "Shine On You Crazy" also had a long song divided into parts and a new song in between. enter. That was the new song "Have A Cigar" in 1975, and the guitar riff played with power chords had evolved to the level of hard rock. The result was the album Wish You Were Here, which was in progress at the time. The 1975 American tour, when Floyd drastically changed his sound, was scheduled intermittently and lasted until June. This tour has many audience recordings with good sound quality, and even for this April release, there are excellent sound sources from the beginning of the tour, such as “Arms Of Vancouver” and “Seattle Master Reels” released by our store. The tour dates in April were highlighted by five consecutive nights of performances at the Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles. In the first half of 1975, big British artists were visiting LA in rapid succession, and this situation prompted one young man to record concerts. His name is Mike Millard. As a 70's West Coast taper that silences even the most crying children, it is now so legendary that even non-enthusiasts know its name. Millard became aware of concert audience recording in 1974, and began full-scale recording activities from this year. After all, all the recordings he produced in the first half of 1975 were all great sound sources. All the sound sources are familiar to enthusiasts, such as ZEP's three LA Forum performances released with a red jacket, and the Rolling Stones' live performance at the same venue in July. In particular, the quality of ZEP's recordings was amazing, and Millard did an ultra recording that rivaled that at Floyd's LA performance in April. That was Morial Sports Arena on the 26th. “Pink Millard” was released from our store and was well received. As you can see from the fact that "Pink Millard" has been sold out for a long time, it reigned as a masterpiece of the April 1975 live performance recorded by the legendary taper. However, although the same title did not feel unnatural, it was equalized with consideration to the sound trends at the time of release. Furthermore, by editing out parts unrelated to the performance, they compiled it into a two-disc set instead of a three-disc set. As a result, although it gained a reputation for being easy to listen to, some shortcomings were pointed out among core enthusiasts. First of all, equalize. Therefore, isn't "The Late Great Millard Tapes", released more than ten years ago, the best Floyd LA75 in foreign countries? This was also heard from overseas enthusiasts. However, this time it is recorded based on the pure and natural transfer of the sound source recorded by Millard without any equalization. If you listen to this, you will realize how natural and relaxed the bass boost feeling even in "The Late Great~" sounds unnatural. However, what is more important than that is that “Pink Millard” lacked the voice by the recording person at the beginning, which was in “The Late Great ~”. Isn't the voice of the person recording it, Mike Millard's real voice? When this title was released, the image of Millard as ZEP's divine recording taper was still too strong, and I overlooked the impact of the great work left by Floyd and Yes. As a result, Millard's real voice, now a key moment, was cut out. Here, he connects a microphone to the recorder and checks it out, and his relaxing voice is so delicious! Although it's a short moment, please enjoy his real voice (lol). And above all, it is the ultimate sound image and clearness among the many mirrored recordings that are on par with ZEP's LA Forum recording from a month ago... It captures the charm of the Floyd sound that was unique to 1975, not only the brutal performance of the new songs in the first set, but also the "The Dark Side Of The Moon" set and the encore "Echoes". I feel like I'm bowing down to the great accomplishment he has achieved. However, the cuts caused by tape changes that occurred in "Have A Cigar" and "Any Color You Like" have also been beautifully adjusted. Even among the 75 years tour that was originally blessed with sound sources, this is absolutely amazing! Moreover, unlike during the Animals tour, Roger Waters, who was nervous about performing in large venues and the audience's reaction, expressed his discomfort in the MC at the end of the first part, which is also very typical of him. Among the 1975 tour, Millard has left the sound source full of things to listen to in the highest level of quality, and even left his own voice (lol) The best version of the divine recording will be released!
