FLAMING YOUTH is a legendary band in which Phil Collins made his professional debut before joining GENESIS. Introducing a definitive edition that covers valuable footage including new discoveries. British prog rock has no shortage of great bands/records that disappeared without achieving success, and there are many enthusiasts whose lives have been turned upside down by its deep charm. FLAMING YOUTH was also a shining star in such a deep and deep world. Above all, what makes this band special is the fact that they are the debut band that launched Phil Collins. Moreover, not only Phil, but also Brian Chatton, who will be participating in JACKSON HEIGHTS (former THE NICE Lee Jackson's band), and Ronnie Caryl, who will perform with Peter Banks (ZOX & THE RADAR BOYS), have also been produced. He often appeared in the Family Tree of huge bands such as GENESIS, EL&P, and YES, arousing the curiosity of enthusiasts. Their "clue" is the concept album masterpiece "ARK 2", of which there is only one left, and it is no exaggeration to say that this work is a video version of that, a collection of multi-camera professional shots. There are three types of images included in this work. In addition to "JAM, May 14, 1970," by the Dutch broadcaster TROS HILVERSUM, which has been considered the only video available to date, the recently discovered French broadcaster, "DE BRIGHTON A, February 26, 1970," JUPITER” and West German Broadcasting’s “START INS WELTALL MIT: ARCHE II” on December 24, 1970. Now, let's introduce each one individually. [February 26, 1970: DE BRIGHTON A JUPITER (4 songs, approx. 14 minutes)] The first song to appear is "DE BRIGHTON A JUPITER", a special program broadcast on the French broadcasting station ORTF PARIS. This is a studio session, not a live performance, and the audio is a mime synchronized with the album "ARK 2". What is most shocking of all is that it is in full color, unlike the traditional Dutch broadcasts. Although the image quality has a vintage film feel, the master freshness is excellent and there is no noise or distortion and is glossy. In fact, none of the songs are played in full and are narrated in French, but you can enjoy Phil, who was 19 years old (!!) at the time, singing and banging in vivid color. [May 14, 1970: JAM (5 songs, approximately 20 minutes)] Next up is "JAM" by the Dutch broadcaster TROS HILVERSUM, which has been the only video ever shown. It is a monochrome image with a sepia color scheme as before, but of course it is the best master. You can enjoy the 1970s-esque elements such as moon images and valuable mime performances with beautiful visuals without any noise or deterioration. [December 24, 1970: START INS WELTALL MIT: ARCHE II (5 songs, approximately 28 minutes)] The last is the longest and most beautiful shocking video! “START INS WELTALL MIT” by West German station WDR KOLN. The above "December 24th" is the broadcast date, and the recording date is unknown. FLAMING YOUTH was disbanded when Phil joined GENESIS, and the timing was “August 1970”. Regardless of when it was recorded, the band was not present when it aired. And what was shocking was the beauty of the visuals. Although the above two types are beautiful, they are excavated film footage with a vintage feel, but this is a master master on a different level. The swaying blonde hair and the sparkling glitter on her outfit are both super beautiful, and the colors are super vivid with a variety of primary colors. Of course, there is no unnatural feeling as if it was forcibly raised by remastering, and even when viewed with modern eyes in the age of digital, it is a completely official professional shot. The content depicted with its beautiful visuals is also amazing. Like the above, it seems to be a mime synchronized with a studio take, but the visual production is elaborate. Various material footage and extra dance scenes are combined, and the performance cuts are also excellent. You can play while surrounded by a huge circular keyboard, and it can be reflected in the mirrored pickguard. Naturally, to modern eyes accustomed to CG, all the image processing looks old-fashioned, but that's precisely why the film has such a fiercely retro feel that feels like it's from another dimension. In fact, all the songs from the album ``ARK 2'' except ``Mercury'', ``Uranus'', and ``From Now On (Immortal Invisible)'' are performed, and it looks like it's a 30-minute video clip produced using full-throttle 70's technology. . Nowadays, it is not uncommon for concept albums to be made into videos, but this video can be said to be a precursor to that. Why did FLAMING YOUTH create such an elaborate video (and 30 minutes long)? It is a ``concept album that you can see with your eyes'' that is so complete that it is a bit strange. FLAMING YOUTH is a phantom band whose name I only saw on Family Tree. This is a video masterpiece that is a compilation of their moving forms. This is an album that goes far beyond simply being a material video for GENESIS fans, and may even rewrite the history of concept albums. This is a shocking piece of work that I hope you will take your time to look at. A collection of multi-camera professional shots by Phil Collins of his debut band FLAMING YOUTH. Compiled with best masters of French broadcast "February 26, 1970: DE BRIGHTON A JUPITER", Dutch broadcast "May 14: JAM", and West German broadcast "December 24: START INS WELTALL MIT: ARCHE II". Especially amazing is “START INS WELTALL MIT”. The swaying blond hair and the sparkling glitter on her outfit are both super beautiful and the colors are so vibrant that they look completely official even to today's digital eyes. Moreover, it is no exaggeration to say that the production, which makes full use of special effects, is a visual version of the concept album ``ARK 2''. It is a visual masterpiece that far exceeds the level of a material video for GENESIS fans and may even rewrite the history of concept works.
