“HOMEWARD BOUND: THE FAREWELL TOUR”, which was declared to be the last world tour of his life, has finally come to an end. Paul Simon has reached a major milestone in his long musical career. The best live album that conveys the final version is now available. What is recorded in this work is “September 20, 2018 New York performance”. This is an audience recording that completely records the first day's performance at the traditional large venue "Madison Square Garden (hereinafter referred to as MSG)" over two days. First, let’s look back at the overall picture of the memorial world tour and check the show’s position. ・May 16th - June 20th: North America #1 (21 performances) ・June 30th - July 8th: Europe (6 performances) ・July 10th - 15th: UK (4 performances) -1 A month and a half later - September 5th - 22nd: North America #2 (11 performances) ←★Here★ This is the whole picture of “HOMEWARD BOUND: THE FAREWELL TOUR”. We have so far reported on the farewell tour in the masterpieces ``PHILADELPHIA 2018'' and ``HYDE PARK 2018: THE FINAL UK PERFORMANCE'', the former being ``North America's #1'' and the latter being a ``UK'' masterpiece. On the other hand, this work is a representative work of the final album "North America #2". It is a masterpiece recording of the final edition with two more to go until the last show. In fact, the quality of this work is extremely neat and beautiful audience sound. I'm not the type to tout it as "just like a soundboard!", but that's not a drawback, but rather an advantage. The crystal-clear atmosphere is wonderful, and the rustic ensemble is clear in every detail. It's normal for a venue as big as MSG to be cloudy and cloudy, but I didn't feel that at all. On top of that, each note of each instrument shines as if it were illuminated by sunlight, which is wonderful. Is the key point the outline of the attack sound? For example, the guitar is clear and precise, right down to the beginning of the picking, and the booming bass is so delicate that you can feel the vibrations of the strings. Each of them resonates in a transparent space, yet they do not blend together. That's why it feels shiny. This beauty is something that can never be achieved with a sound board whose core is exposed. It is a world of beauty that is only allowed for the finest audience recording. Of course, the most beautiful thing is Paul's singing voice. Even though I could feel it reaching every corner of the large venue, there was a strange lack of response. The voice coming from Paul's mouth reaches straight to your fingertips at the level of breathing. Like the performance, the clarity is exquisite here, and even when intertwined with the female chorus, each individual voice is beautifully separated. And the chorus of about 20,000 people joining them is overwhelming! In fact, what makes this work even more amazing is the voices of the large audience. The detailed recording position is not communicated, but there are no noisy voices nearby. On top of that, the applause that rises between songs is huge and thick, and the laughter that rises at Paul's jokes is also extremely wide. Although each grain is small, it is extremely delicate, creating a spectacle like a sand dune spreading out endlessly with fine grains of sand. While Paul's singing voice takes center stage, female voices support him, and 20,000 people follow him... Their interactions are warm and transparent. It is a beautiful and moving sound world that is like a classical concert where you are allowed to sing in harmony. The show drawn with that sound also moves your heart. The set is based on "THE FAREWELL TOUR" that we have been talking about so far, and even the song order is the same as "HYDE PARK 2018: THE FINAL UK PERFORMANCE", which was the last tour in the UK. Although it is the culmination of a career spanning more than half a century since its debut, it is not just a collection of famous songs. The key to this is the new "IN THE BLUE LIGHT" number released in September. I re-recorded the hidden masterpieces from the past repertoire, and from there I am showing off “Rene And Georgette Magritte With Their Dog After The War”, “Can’t Run But” and “Questions For The Angels”. These songs don't run cheaply on the hit parade, and subtly but surely deepen the emotion of the show. The audience and Paul who breathed in that mood to the fullest are exchanging nostalgic breaths... It's a live album that allows you to immerse your whole body in that space. Just a beautiful sound and a heartwarming show. Even though we are counting down to the last show, there is no loneliness, but the joy of walking with famous songs. This is a masterpiece of a live album where you can fully experience it with the finest sound. I don't know if the Farewell Tour will be officially made into a work in the future, but that's where the beauty of this work lies. The beauty that can only be expressed by the sound that actually reaches the audience seats. It is a famous item whose beauty permeates through.
