Paul McCartney has entered 2018 with warm-up gigs in Liverpool and London in June and July. Then, on September 7, 2018, a special live performance was held at a special stage in New York's Grand Central Station. Although the set list is simpler than usual, there is no sense of Paul's decline as a musician, and although the band has already entered its 16th year since becoming a member, everyone is performing wonderfully. Finally, they announced that they will be going on a new tour titled FRESHEN UP TOUR, replacing the previous ONE ON ONE TOUR. The tour will kick off in Canada in September 2018, include festival appearances, and has an American schedule scheduled for 2019. Then, in 2018, a performance was held in Japan as part of this FRESHEN UP TOUR. Even he himself would not have expected that at the age of 76, more than half a century after he first came to Japan at the age of 24, he would still be performing large-scale stadium concerts in faraway Japan. The schedule is as follows. October 31, 2018 Tokyo Dome November 1, 2018 Tokyo Dome November 5, 2018 Ryogoku Kokugikan November 8, 2018 Nagoya Dome This is the first Ryogoku Kokugikan, and the 1980 Wings was scheduled. It is unique in that it includes the Nagoya performance, which was originally canceled. Although the number of Tokyo Dome performances has been reduced from three last time to two, it would be impossible for an artist other than a big name like Paul to have the mobilization power to fill the dome stadium over and over again. This work is a complete recording of the first day of the 2018 Tokyo Dome performance, including the sound check. A distinctive feature of the FRESHEN UP TOUR is that they have added new songs from their new album "EGYPT STATION" to their repertoire. Moreover, he played two songs, “Who Cares” and “Come On To Me” at the beginning of the concert, and “Fuh You” in the middle. All of these songs seem to have been designed with concert performance in mind, and serve as an important accent to the stage composition. Also, “From Me To You” will be premiered on this tour. It is one of the Beatles' representative songs from the very early days, and is featured as one of their acoustic corner songs. Other than that, if you just look at the songs on the set list, contrary to the tour title, there are no fresh selections, and there are songs that have been played before. However, if we were to highlight the characteristics of this tour, we should focus on the arrangements rather than the songs. The major difference from traditional Paul stages is the addition of a brass section. Until now, with the exception of Wings in the 70's, basically no one other than band members joined Paul's stage. Of course, there were times when bagpipe bands took the stage and guests performed. However, there were no musicians who accompanied the tour and participated in the concert production every night. For the first time, a brass section joined the band. The arrangement intentionally takes advantage of the fact that the sounds that had previously been substituted by Wicks's keyboard are now played using real instruments. The brass section makes its first appearance on "Letting Go." What's more, the audience is excited by the surprise performance that is suddenly performed by the members who are lined up in the audience seats instead of on the stage. In the second half of the song, a short brass solo is inserted into the break, making the arrangement even more outstanding. It is also featured extensively in the new song "Come On To Me". The brass section also plays an important role in "Let 'Em In," "Lady Madonna," "Ob La Di Ob La Da," "Live And Let Die," "Hey Jude," and the final Abbey Road medley. . Additionally, the Japanese word ``ichiban'' is used in the song ``Back In Blazil'' from the album ``Egypt Station''. It was previously rumored that this song would be premiered in Japan, but in the end it was added as an intro at the beginning of "Come On To Me". Although it is a small detail, this is also an arrangement that was first introduced in Japan. [Ryogoku Kokugikan performance on November 5, 2018] This is the third day of the 2018 performance in Japan. Initially, it was only scheduled to be performed at Tokyo Dome for two days and Nagoya Dome, but later, the Ryogoku Kokugikan performance was additionally announced. I was surprised by his Budokan performances in 2015 and 2017, but I can't believe that Paul will be holding a concert at Ryogoku Kokugikan. The capacity is slightly smaller than Budokan, with a nominal capacity of approximately 7,000 people. When he came to Japan in 2013, he attended the Kyushu Grand Sumo Tournament during the Fukuoka performance, and even won a prize. It may be an exaggeration to say that Paul is a fan of sumo, but he seems to be very interested in sumo. Of course, Ryogoku Kokugikan is also the venue for the sumo tournament. On the day of the event, the square seats were still in use, and as people could enjoy Paul's concert from a very close distance, the venue was fully booked, and it was such a huge success that tickets were sold on the day to the last seats just because of the atmosphere. Since the venue was Ryogoku Kokugikan, Paul seemed to be in a good mood from beginning to end, occasionally saying ``Gottsuan desu'' or imitating the hand sword used when accepting sumo prize money. The set list was a digest with several songs cut from the regular stage, but the performance was extremely passionate and one of the best that has rarely been seen in recent years. This work completely records the Ryogoku Kokugikan performance in ultra-high sound quality. Although not in the front row, the sound image recorded in the front of Block A was recorded very cleanly and from a close distance, with no one around making harsh cries, and almost no noticeable applause. It can be said that it was a miraculous recording in that noisy Kokugikan. There is nothing that surpasses this work in the audience recording of this day. In addition, a bonus track includes a message from Paul himself regarding the upcoming performance in Japan, as well as a message informing that the Ryogoku Kokugikan performance has been added. Although the sound check was not shown on this day, the third disc of this work is a DVD of the Ryogoku Kokugikan concert shot from the front of the stands. Even though it was recorded with one camera, the shot is very stable, and the concert is fully recorded using zoom, so you can enjoy the concert on the day. A DVD that is as good as a professional shot recorded and edited with 4 cameras at the Ryogoku Kokugikan has been released separately, but this work is a complete recording of the concert with 1 camera and can be thoroughly enjoyed. are. From the 2018 Japan performance, the third day, November 5th, Ryogoku Kokugikan performance was completely recorded in the front block of the arena in ultra-high quality sound. It is recorded with the highest sound quality in the performance in Japan so far. If you can follow Paul's live performances since 2003 in real time, this time as well, you will be able to get the latest tours from time to time with the label that has been delivering them in high quality as soon as possible. I think that many titles will be released this time as well, but there is no need to compare them with others, as long as this work is the definitive one, it will be enough. ■Complete recording of the Ryogoku Kokugikan performance on November 5, 2018 ■Super high-quality sound with a sense of realism in the front block of the stage ■Complete recording DVD included shot from the front of the stands RYOGOKU KOKUGIKAN TOKYO JAPAN November 5, 2018 DISC ONE 01 .
