"Ram" is now firmly established as a historic masterpiece, as if it were a lie that Rolling Stone magazine criticized it as "the height of corruption of 60's rock" when it was first released. Furthermore, in the sense that it was a huge hit despite the harsh criticism, it can be said to be an important work that signaled Paul's full-scale activities after the breakup of The Beatles. Last week, we released the mono mix of this album by Dr. Ebbetts, but that was just a preview. Yes, this time the release of the session recordings of "Ram" will be realized. Originally, "Ram" was an album that signaled the return of Paul's creative drive, as he worked energetically after getting over the shock of the breakup of The Beatles. During the recording sessions, more songs than could fit on the album were recorded, including "Oh Woman, Oh Why" and "I Lie Around" which were released as single B-sides, "Get On The Right Thing", "Little Lamb Dragonfly" and "Dear Friend" which were used on later albums, and even "Rode All Night", which was the original song for "Giddy", a song provided by Paul on Roger Daltrey's 1977 solo album "ONE OF THE BOYS". Paul's creative drive even extended to album promotion, and he even made a number of jingles for radio promotion, and even produced a record for radio stations that compiled them. That is the promo LP "BRUNG TO EWE BY". The content is that Paul and Linda persistently sing the line "Now hear this, song of mine" while muttering the album title. It is also interesting to see the performance arrangement of the fragments gradually escalate. That said, it's not a proper song, and the content is reminiscent of the Beatles' Christmas record, but it is still a valuable recording that can only be heard on this promo record. The Contra Band LP "LENNON MCCARTNEY," which first included this recording, included an excerpt from the 1966 Christmas record, and it seems that it was edited with the same association in mind. Above all, "BRUNG TO EWE BY" itself was an extremely valuable promo-only release, so it continues to be included in bootlegs in various forms. However, since the original was a promo recording, the sound quality line was guaranteed to a certain extent, which backfired and the opportunities to include it from the original promo became extremely rare. For example, the version included in the past title "RAM MONO" etc. was clearly a little degraded in sound quality, and it is speculated that it was probably based on the counterfit version of "BRUNG TO..." released in the 1980s. Therefore, the opening of this release is a recording from the mega-rare promo original LP. The original promo LP provided by the collector was carefully traced, and the scratch noise was neatly removed before recording. The clarity is incomparable to the many past items, and the noiseless state is so vivid that it feels as if a new layer has been peeled off. If you want to hear it in the same quality, you can listen to the version recorded as the audio that plays on the menu screen of the DVD included with the Super Deluxe Edition, but unfortunately it is an incomplete version with two minutes left unrecorded. Therefore, this recording is worthy of being the definitive version. Since this release is a collection of sessions, the content will escalate to even more substantial content from this point on. There was already an item called "ULTIMATE RAM" that combined the Dr. Ebbetts version with session sound sources and "BRUNG TO EWE BY". However, this time it was a two-disc set of studio sound sources alone, so the Dr. Ebbetts version was released as a single unit and as a trailer. Two famous outtakes produced from the sessions for this album are "A Love For You" and "Hey Diddle". Both songs were extremely well-made and were the core of the unreleased song collection "COLD CUTS," but they were unfortunate songs that ended up being shelved and shared the same fate. "COLD CUTS" was also an unfortunate project in that Paul reworked the songs every few years, but none of them were released in the end. The two discs document the birth of these two songs and the many reworks. Therefore, the same songs and the same performances are played over and over again, but the mixes are so different that it's not boring to listen to them, but it's really interesting to see how they were tweaked year after year. As for "A Love For You," it finally saw the light of day in the 2003 movie "THE IN-LAWS" (and the finish was far from the original recording), but since there had never been an item that compiled this version into one item until now, the updated editing content will satisfy enthusiasts. In the end, am I the only one who thinks that the basic track recorded in a state close to an instrumental with Paul's guide vocals at the very beginning sounds the most exciting? This basic track and similar tracks on "The Back Seat Of My Car" and "Long Haired Lady" are from the masterpiece "UNSURPASSED MASTERS", but the sound image was reversed, which was adjusted for this recording. Although it is often overlooked, "Rode All Night" has a remix with the end of the song cut in the Super Deluxe Edition, so the original mix from "UNSURPASSED MASTERS" is still valuable, and this time we have included that mix. Of course, this track also has the left and right channel reverse problem fixed. In addition, the instrumental "Great Cock And Seagull Race", which was an outtake and had multiple mix stages circulating, has been adjusted in pitch so that all versions can be compared in accurate condition. And "Uncle Albert / Jam", which was only available when purchasing the Super Deluxe Edition online, is also included, making this a perfect culmination of the "RAM" sessions. In addition, the album includes the drafts of "The Back Seat Of My Car" and "Another Day" that Paul played during The Beatles' Get Back sessions. It's also nice that the "beep" sound for film synchronization, which was common in the previously released versions of this session recording, has been reduced. The acetate version of "Another Day", which appeared when a tape recording owned by former roadie Trevor Jones was leaked, has been reviewed from the original recording and is included in the latest remaster. The second half of the second disc is like the first part of the bonus tracks, and is a collection of live versions of the songs from "Ram" arranged in the order of the album. Since these are songs recorded during a time when Paul did not have a band and each song was recorded with great effort, there are surprisingly few live versions. Therefore, the performances recorded here cover a wide range of years. However, most of the recordings are soundboard recordings, so you can enjoy the album smoothly throughout. In particular, several songs from the 1972 Groningen performance were also available only online, so they will be useful for those who wanted to have or hear them on CD. The latter half of the album, "Real," features two fan mixes, which end with a scene that will be fondly remembered by the analog generation, in which John hums a sarcasm in an interview with "Too Many People" and "Back Seat Of My Car."
