One of the expressions of Paul's enthusiasm for the release of the new album "EGYPT STATION" which became a big hit, it will be a series of secret gigs held in the summer. After the release of the album, the schedule for the Freshen Up Tour was decided, and Paul wanted to warm up at a gig before the start. The secret gig at Abbey Road Studios in July, which was held early in the series of gigs, is currently being distributed as “UNDER THE STAIRCASE”. It was given as a gift last week, but while the audio was less than an hour long, the video was over two hours long and captured the entire gig. However, the video has not been released in Japan, and we can only get a glimpse of the gig through the audio, which is inferior in both content and sound quality. This time, not only has the video version been recorded on a dual layer DVD, but the audio has been remastered and also included on two CDs. Among them, as a result of equalizing the audio, it was reborn as a stereo soundboard recording of a completely different dimension from the distribution-like sound quality of last week. The clearness itself was clearly different, partly because the audio of the video was better. Also, the distributed video has already been uploaded to YouTube by maniacs who have divided it into individual songs, but by making it into a new DVD rather than using it from there, we have realized a recording of a different level of quality. The current YouTube version has many unnatural movements, and the audio is hard and thin. In that respect, the quality of this release is on another level, and it is so clear that you can actually watch it on a big screen without stress. If you watch it in this image quality, the band members still have a strong youthful impression, but Brian Ray looks surprisingly older. Also, unlike the audio version that was originally released as short content, this one includes plenty of Paul's MC between songs. Since the event was held at Abbey Road Studios, many of the stories are familiar, but many episodes from the recording of Beatles songs will be told. I think this is also the charm of a gig that is different from a regular live show. In “Lady Madonna”, instead of the usual psychedelic piano, it is a rare scene that Paul moves to the piano used for recording at the time and plays it in the same studio. Moreover, it is interesting that the gig ends with “Helter Skelter”. The biggest attraction is that the number of songs included has been increased. Of course, there are songs such as "I Wanna Be Your Man" that are played with the story of giving the song to the Stones, but more than that, it is a song from the new album, and so far it has not been played on the main part of the Freshen Up tour. “Confidante”, which is not played, is probably the biggest listen. Moreover, it can be seen and heard with perfect stereo sound board recording. Unlike songs like the lead single "Come On To Me," this album as a whole has a surprisingly calm atmosphere. "Confidante" is the best example of this, and although it is a good song, it may not be suitable for live performances. I have a feeling that this song will probably be treated as part of the sound check repertoire like "On My Way To Work" from "NEW". In this way, an upper version was released in terms of sound quality and content, but unfortunately the one song played in the encore, "Get Back", was not included, so it was released on CD & DVD.
