This is a live recording from the 1989 tour, recorded at the LA Forum on November 23rd, the first day of five consecutive shows in LA. This tour coincided with a turning point in bootleg media, with all of the items released from the US tour between 1989 and 1990 being vinyl LPs. Incidentally, a much lower-quality recording titled "YESTERDAY, TODAY & McCARTNEY" was released on the day of "LA FORUM 1989 3RD NIGHT." This LA Forum performance on November 23rd was originally released as a three-disc set titled "BACK IN THE U.S.A." Its white, red, and blue vinyl color scheme, clearly reminiscent of the classic "WINGS FROM THE WINGS" album from the final show at the LA Forum in 1976, wowed enthusiasts at the time. But that's not all. This LP boasts exceptional sound quality among the LPs released at the time, capturing the 1989 US tour, and its quality has also impressed enthusiasts. However, as the era was transitioning from LP to CD, despite its excellent sound quality, it never achieved the acclaim it deserves. It was unfortunate timing. Furthermore, Japanese fans seemed to flock to subsequent performances in Japan, making this an even more overlooked item. This time, the LP has been reissued on CD. Now, in 2013, this masterpiece, a masterpiece that even enthusiasts may have overlooked, has been brought back to life. While it certainly cannot match the unrivaled clarity and balance of "EVONY AND IVORY 1989," the on-the-fly sound image and detailed clarity captured on this LP are still captivating. It's surprising that such a recording of such exceptional sound quality was overlooked in 1989. Furthermore, the sections separated on the LP have been connected using cross-fading processing, allowing for a seamless listening experience. Additionally, the cut that occurs early in "Live And Let Die" has been patched back into perfect condition from the original song. And best of all, the pitch, which was likely raised in order to fit the high-quality recording onto three LPs, has been precisely adjusted, resulting in a CD that is far more listenable than the original LP! Since the 1989 tour was before Paul's health began to deteriorate, his effortless shouting is unique to this period. While the overall performance isn't as energetic as the following year, the calm performance and Paul's excellent vocal tone contribute to the quality of the performance, making it a comfortable listen. Additionally, there were no PA issues like on the 27th, making this an excellent recording that conveys Paul's deep enjoyment of his first live performance at the LA Forum since 1976. This is a release that brings together a previously overlooked masterpiece in its best possible condition on CD! With the arrival of the new mirrored recordings, the "BACK IN THE U.S.A." record may seem to have outlived its usefulness (the tape source has yet to appear), but as the commentary on the new mirrored version notes, there are some areas where it is superior (such as "Things We Said Today"), so it's worth adding to your collection.
