When PATTI SMITH visited Austria on tour in 1978, local ORF TV produced a documentary program that closely followed her, and this work is the footage that was aired at that time. The picture quality is also decent for that time. It starts with her arriving and getting off the airport, and then it shows her being interviewed by a reporter in the car on the way to the venue, the recording at the local radio station, and her signing autographs for fans waiting outside. Of course, there are also live scenes, and although it is not a complete set, it covers almost all of her repertoire at that time. It shows an energetic and punkish stage that seems to lead young people, rather than the calm and collected appearance that we see today. Even more valuable is the scene where Patti herself plays the piano with a local violinist and recites Jim Morrison's "AMERICAN PRAYER". And at the end, as the title suggests, she leaves the airport again, making this a wonderful documentary that follows her closely for 20 hours. Austrian ORF TV documentary filmed in Vienna.
