This 72-minute recording features live performances from the US tour accompanying the release of "First Circle," his final album for ECM, in 1984. Both performances were recorded in Albuquerque on January 22 and Santa Fe on July 22, 1985, using the finest audience masters available at the time and digitally remastered in 2026. While the two recordings are incomplete—the 1984 recording only covers the second half of the show, and the 1985 recording only covers the first half—these recordings have been seamlessly edited using crossfades and fade-ins and outs to create a single concert. Balance adjustments and mastering processes have further enhanced the quality to a listenable level. This period, just before Metheny left ECM and began his tenure with Geffen, showcases Metheny's newfound musical ambitions. The addition of South American multi-instrumentalist Pedro Aznar adds depth and breadth to the sound, creating a spectacular live performance that seems to open the door to the Metheny world.
