The famous recording of "Original BLIZZARD", which is a twin of the highly popular "CHELMSFORD 1980", has been brushed up. The highest peak updated sound, which has undergone meticulous mastering by "GRAF ZEPPELIN", is reproduced on CD. The famous recording is "London performance on September 20, 1980". It is a superb audience recording vacuum-packed one night at the traditional famous venue "Hammersmith Odeon". Many people may have a feeling for "Original BLIZZARD" from the date. This is an upgrade album of the masterpiece "DEFINITIVE LONDON 1980", which was discovered last year and became a huge hit. [The "Miracle Four" who also performed live] If you have experienced the previous work, or if you have experienced the power of "GRAF ZEPPELIN" mastering, you will have already made up your mind. However, there may be some people who are unlucky and are experiencing it for the first time, so let me explain from the beginning. First of all, what is "Original BLIZZARD"? These are the four people who created the two great masterpieces "BLIZZARD OF OZZ" and "DIARY OF A MADMAN". Most of the live performances during the Randy Rhoads era were performed by the rhythm section of "Rudy Sardo/Tommy Aldridge". However, in the early 1980s, it was "Bob Daisley/Lee Kerslake" just like the studio works. Of course, we archive this special period with various live albums. Let's review the collection here. 1980 {April 19th: BLIZZARD OF OZZ completed} September 3rd + 5th: Warm-up gig (2 shows) September 12th-18th (5 shows) {September 20th: BLIZZARD OF OZZ released} September 20th: London show ←★This work★ September 21st: London show September 23rd: NIGHTS OF BLIZZARD (Manchester) September 24th-October 1st (5 shows) October 2nd: Southampton show ←※Official SBD October 3rd-October 9th (5 shows) October 10th: Taunton show October 11th-20th (6 shows) October 22nd: CHELMSFORD 1980 October 23rd-24th (2 shows) October 26th: NIGHTS OF BLIZZARD (London) October 28-November 1 (4 performances) 1981 {February-March: DIARY OF A MADMAN production} {March: Bob Daisley/Lee Kerslake leave} This is the outline of the activities of the "original BLIZZARD". There are only about five songs left on the soundboard in the official "TRIBUTE" and singles, and the full show has to rely on audience recordings. In that case, the point is "Which is the best recording?" The answer is "CHELMSFORD 1980" introduced at the beginning, and the only rival is the Hammersmith recording of this work (however, other recordings are known on this day, and the quality of those is not so good. Please note that Hammersmith is not good at all). Now, this is one of the two major recordings, but the sound is a clear sound with a clear atmosphere and sharp performance sounds. In terms of the power of the deep bass and the close contact of the soundboard, "CHELMSFORD 1980" is one step ahead, but in terms of the fineness of the details and the vividness of the outline, this is the winner. It is a recording of Dragon and Tiger that is truly worthy of playing the ultimate battle. [Another top recording revived by detailed mastering] And this work is the highest peak update of such a famous recording. At the time of "DEFINITIVE LONDON 1980" excavated last year, the already released group was out of the question, but this time "GRAF ZEPPELIN" carried out detailed mastering to maximize the potential of the master. It has been carefully polished. As we have already introduced in various places, "GRAF ZEPPELIN"'s method is to the highest degree of high precision and ultra-natural orientation. Completely different from remastering that crushes the subtleties of the original sound by earning sound pressure, pitch correction, phase correction, band analysis, etc. are finely and minutely corrected while making the most of the original sound and details. It is a methodology to carefully correct the distortion caused by dubbing and deterioration over time, so to speak, it is equivalent to "restoring a painting". And because the precision is beyond ordinary people, the polishing that cannot be distinguished one by one accumulates, realizing "the best sound ever" and "precise reproduction of the on-site sound". For example, in this work, there is a sound disturbance that occurs about one minute into "Goodbye To Romance". In the previous work "DEFINITIVE LONDON 1980", Ozzy's vocals feel slightly dull, but this has been beautifully fixed in this work. Even if you play the previous work while reading this article, it is probably a very minute distortion that you will be confused as to "is this...?", but if you compare it with this work, you will notice that "it's really fixed!" In other words, even each of the disturbances that you may overlook are repaired. In addition to the above work, in this case, the monauralization is also large. You may think "Why make it mono?!", but this recording was recorded with a mono microphone in the first place. It was converted to pseudo-stereo during the digitalization and distribution process. There are two reasons for converting it to mono this time. One is to restore the natural feeling of the recording. The other is to improve the running noise of the tape. All previous releases, including the previous edition "DEFINITIVE LONDON 1980", had high-frequency noise (onomatopoeically speaking, it feels like "ko") from the left and right, which was caused by the running noise of the analog tape. This is a type that cannot be eliminated even with band correction, but it can be greatly reduced by converting it to mono once. Of course, if the left and right channels are even slightly out of sync, it will be even more strange, so the phase was adjusted to within 1/1000th of a second before converting it to mono. As a result, a clear and deep sound with a deep silence was born. Such a detailed clear sound depicts the "live performance version/on-site experience version of BLIZZARD OF OZZ". The set has a different song order from the rival edition "CHELMSFORD 1980", but since this is the definitive edition, let's organize it again here. Blizzard of Oz (8 songs) I Don't Know (★) / Crazy Train (★) / Goodbye To Romance / No Bone Movies / Mr. Crowley / Suicide Solution / Revelation (Mother Earth) (★) / Steal Away (The Night) (★) Others (4 songs) Single: You Looking At Me Looking At You (★) Sabbath: Iron Man (★) / Children Of The Grave (★) / Paranoid (★) *Note: The "★" mark indicates songs for which the official soundboard with the original lineup has not been released. ...And so it goes. They performed all the songs from "BLIZZARD OF OZZ" except "Dee", and mixed in the rare song "You Looking At Me Looking At You". It's truly a "live version of BLIZZARD OF OZZ". This is the highest peak update of the best recording of "Original BLIZZARD" which is paired with "CHELMSFORD 1980". If you want a powerful and intimate "soundboard feeling", we recommend "CHELMSFORD 1980", but if you want to fully enjoy the "live performance of the four people who created a miracle" to the fullest, this work is the summit. It is a mono recording of the eternally unconcluded Dragon and Tiger (remaster memo), so it was converted to mono again after phase correction. The jarring running sound unique to cassette tapes, "Ko!", which was originally heard from the left and right channels, has disappeared, making it easier to hear. Sound fluctuation correction around 1:05 of Goodbye To Romance. The best audience recording of the "Hammersmith Odeon performance on September 20, 1980". It is a famous recording that competes with "CHELMSFORD 1980" for the top spot in "Original BLIZZARD" including Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake. This work is the highest peak update board that polished the legendary recording with meticulous mastering by GRAF ZEPPELIN, and the very slight sound fluctuation and tape running noise that were overlooked in the previous group are beautifully restored. In addition to the rare song "You Looking At Me Looking At You", you can experience the full show that can be called the live performance version of BLIZZARD OF OZZ.
