The August 7th Stockholm performance, just before the legendary 1996 Knebworth performance, was recorded with a high-quality audience recording! ! For the first two weeks of August 1996, Oasis was in glory. A series of outdoor concerts were held, starting with that Knebworth. Of course, Knebworth is a legendary gig that is "this is history!", but the outdoor mammoth concerts that took place before and after were also great performances. It tends to be overlooked because there is no radio broadcast like Knebworth, nor is there any professional shot footage, but if you are a enthusiast, a wonderful day worth listening to is August 7th in Stockholm. As you can see from the date, the big concert held before Knebworth was this Stockholm. The pattern was recorded with an audience recording, and it was a day when the group showed off a fully prepared and in top form stage with the big event of the century just around the corner. In fact, the Gallagher brothers were unusually excited, especially Liam, who was talking a lot between songs, and there were times when he got so excited that he screamed out loud by himself. At Knebworth, there were no plans for recording or broadcasting like on the second day, so the tension was higher than at that time, and Liam's free-spirited singing is dazzling now. It's great that Liam's voice was in top form until the end, even though he was singing so wildly. It was probably a good thing that, unlike Knebworth, there were no consecutive performances scheduled. Noel was also quite excited next to his younger brother who was flying like that. Although not as much as Liam, he also shouted MCs between songs everywhere. Who would have thought that within a month of this intoxicating enthusiasm, he would have to sing all the songs in Chicago. This is an audience recording that captures a great performance in the summer of 1996, but the sound image is recorded quite close. More than that, the instability caused by the shaking of the sound image, which is unique to large-scale outdoor concerts, was difficult to deal with, and it is unfortunate that this was particularly noticeable in the first half of the live performance. However, since it was a show outside of English-speaking countries, the audience's chorus, which is common in Oasis concerts, was modest and did not block the performance. Thanks to this, it is surprisingly easy to listen to for an audience recording from the height of Oasis's popularity. Instead, when fast-paced songs such as "Morning Glory" start, clapping breaks out, but this usually ends before the first part of the song, which is also a blessing in disguise. As I said before, the instability of the sound sometimes being blown away by the wind is regrettable, but in other scenes, the performance is unexpectedly large. For example, "My Big Mouth" and "It's Gettin' Better (Man!!)" (there is a cut due to battery replacement at the ending of this song) were new songs that were heard for the first time here, so the clapping stopped in an instant (bitter smile), and yet the sound image was quite stable and on-the-fly, so it was easy to hear. In addition, Liam's tension after this song was sharp. Although this is an audience recording with some parts that lack stability, it can be said that it is a valuable sound source that can be fully enjoyed overall. And above all, the performance is outstandingly wonderful. And it is also worth it as a document that has been performing such a glorious show.
