Every great band has a period when they are just starting out. It can be said that this refers to the period before the popularity exploded, and the existence of sound sources and videos tends to be limited. Oasis made their debut in 1994 with their debut single "Supersonic" on April 11th. This song, which has now become a classic, was only ranked 31st on the charts at the time, and the number of gigs was sparse for a while after the single was released. It may seem surprising considering the subsequent rise in popularity, but the period around the release of "Supersonic" was a surprisingly quiet period. As if to reflect that, Oasis Spring 1994 has limited live sound sources, but the concept of this time is to include the remaining excellent audience recordings. The main recording is the gig at Old Trout, a live house in Windsor on May 7th. This venue is a historic live house where up-and-coming bands from the United Kingdom and America held gigs in the early 1990s. This audience recording of an Oasis gig also has plenty of realism typical of “Hako”. Therefore, the sound image is also very active, and in some places the sound image is so powerful that you want to ask if it is a sound board. The best example would be the intro to “Bring It On Down.” The drumming played by Tony McCarroll is the sound board itself. It's not just that the sound images are close, but the sounds of each instrument are vivid. Is the sound from Noel's guitar etc. coming from an amplifier rather than a PA? It's almost like you're in the illusion, and Gigsy's bass is also roaring. Above all, Liam's singing voice is really close. The momentum was so strong that during the finale, “I Am The Walrus,” he and the band no longer meshed together. When it was recorded in May 1994, his singing voice resonated in the small box of Old Trout with the same freshness that was heard on the first album, and the stage time of just under 45 minutes was an advantage. Liam's voice comes out so well that it feels good. What was even more surprising was that there were Japanese people present at Oasis's gig, which had just debuted. In front of "Live Forever," a Japanese woman's conversation can be clearly heard saying, "Aren't your legs black?" It is assumed that the person was probably staying in the area, but I don't know that there was a Japanese person who had already seen Oasis right after its debut. At the same time, another member of the audience (in English that I believe was a local person) muttered, "We're going to do a T. Rex cover, right?" It was clear that he was referring to "Cigarettes & Alcohol," and also a cover. It was only at the time of its debut that people misunderstood it as a song. Another live sound source included in this title is a gig performed at London's 100 Club on March 24th, two weeks before their debut. Speaking of the 100 Club, it is also a venue with a long history as a gateway to success for punk acts such as the Sex Pistols and the Clash. It's not hard to imagine that Oasis was very enthusiastic about their performance. What is even more surprising is the high quality of this audience recording. Although it is not as good as the main part Old Trout, the sound image is also on and it is powerful. Although this was a gig for a band that had already gained acclaim, it was still just before their debut. I can't help but be surprised that such a high-quality sound source was left at such a timing. The recording starts from the beginning of “Bring It On Down”, where the sound is a little muffled. However, this is exactly the kind of thing that gives you a vivid sense of being there when you open the door to the 100 Club and step inside. The sound immediately becomes clearer and the performance gradually closes. As expected, since it was before their debut, their repertoire was small, and the stage itself lasted less than 30 minutes. Also, only “I Will Believe”, which is the highlight of this day, has been recorded on a CD as a compilation, but this is the first time that the entire gig will be released. The highlight “I Will Believe” is a live take familiar to enthusiasts as the only record of pure live performance, and at the same time it is really lucky that this song was captured with the highest sound quality. In particular, Liam's voice resonates loudly and I am captivated by the atmosphere overflowing with freshness along with the performance. This is a historical document that captures the before and after of Oasis' 1994 debut with unbelievable high-quality audience recordings. This is a record of Oasis' "Blue Era"!
