Following the release of "Council Skies," currently the High Flying Birds' final album, Noel's triumphant return to Manchester was held at Wythenshawe Park on August 23, 2023. The gig, held at a vast festival-level venue, was officially recorded and available for a fee. While it was a fully pro-shot and soundboard recording, no release was ever made available after the limited-time stream. Despite being recorded with release in mind as a post-Council Skies live performance in Manchester, it has yet to be released as a standard stream or physical release. The tour following the release of "Council Skies" saw many television broadcasts of festival appearances that doubled as album promotion. Furthermore, last year, with the reunion of Oasis, the final live performance with the High Flying Birds was also released, complete with a stereo soundboard, as part of a classic release from our shop. However, this 2013 Wythenshawe Park recording should rival last year's Fuji Rock, especially considering it's a triumphant return to his hometown of Manchester. The original stereo soundboard recording provides ample sound quality, but the audio released for general distribution is lossy. However, this time, the recording has been replaced with a master-quality source. Unlike official live albums, which are also stereo soundboard recordings but are carefully mixed for release, the mix for the streaming video is not as prim and proper, retaining a wild, direct quality that is truly captivating. It's a soundboard album that makes you realize how impossible it would be not to release it physically. This is a superb soundboard album that can be enjoyed with confidence by beginners and enthusiasts alike. And the setlist, which beautifully combines the light and pop sound of "COUNCIL SKIES," which was well-received from the start, with Noel's previous solo tracks, remains excellent, and truly shines on a stereo soundboard. Unlike the Fuji Rock concert, the second half of the show featured "Easy Now" and a cover of Dylan's "The Mighty Quinn (Quinn The Eskimo)," a defining feature of the 2023 setlist. Now that Oasis has reunited, the Noel vocal and acoustic arrangement of "Live Forever"—a classic "COUNCIL SKIES" era—is even more precious. The highlight was the closing performance of "Don't Look Back In Anger," in which Noel left the entire performance to the audience, leaving it entirely to the audience, a truly special sight. This soundboard album perfectly captures the historic night of 2023 at Wythenshawe Park, a performance that's now difficult to see and hear. This is the definitive version of Noel's signature "COUNCIL SKIES" concert from that year, paired with the highly acclaimed "FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '24."
