Shocking! A newly unearthed soundboard has arrived, and collectors all over the world are excited. This work was recorded on November 25, 1991 at NOB Radio Studio. It is a stereo soundboard recording of the entire studio session. While this work was not recorded at a live concert, the best way to understand a rock band's situation is to look at their activity schedule. 1991 was the revolutionary year brought about by "NEVERMIND." The Earth became a different planet before and after the album's release, so let's first take a look at this work's position in the big picture.・January 18th / March 2nd-9th / April 17th: North America #1 (7 shows) ・May 29th-June 20th: North America #2 (10 shows) ・August 15th+17th: North America #3 (2 shows) ・August 20th-September 1st: Europe #1 (10 shows) {September 10th: Single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" released} ・September 16th-23rd: North America #4a (4 shows) {September 24th "NEVERMIND" released} ・September 24th-October 31st: North America #4b (30 shows) ←※Official video ・November 4th-December 7th: Europe #2 (28 shows) ←★Here★ ・December 27th-31st: North America #5 (4 shows) The legendary studio session that took place during the "NEVERMIND" era This is NIRVANA in 1991. This recording was made two months after the album's release, right in the middle of "Europe #2." The session was organized by Lotje Isermans, a renowned DJ at Dutch public broadcaster VPRO. Isermans had heard "NEVERMIND" from a friend of his tour manager before its release, and proclaimed, "This is going to be a big hit!" He requested a session with the band. (Incidentally, this was the second VPRO session, having also taken place in November 1989.) VPRO's rival station VARA also volunteered to collaborate on the recording, broadcasting it on their respective radio programs, "Nozems-A-Gogo" and "Twee Meter De Lucht In." Known for its exquisite quality as a radio broadcast, this recording has long been a staple of rare studio recordings from the era. The (previous) best master recording was also included in our "Radio Friendly" collection, making it a widely popular favorite. This time, we're introducing the pre-FM master. And what's more, it's an incredibly upgraded version, vastly expanded beyond anything we've seen before! The newly excavated soundboard master has been expanded to more than twice the previous version. The biggest point of this work is its length. The previous master was fully official, so even though this new master is superb, it's expected, but the recording time is unexpected. Originally, only "Here She Comes Now" (a cover of THE VELVET UNDERGROUND) and "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" (a cover of Leadbelly) were broadcast. Later, in 2002, VPRO released an expanded version online, but that was just under 21 minutes. In contrast, this newly excavated master is a whopping 43 minutes. The contents seamlessly reveal the entirety of the precious studio session. Daniel Johnston's cover "I Stand Horrified" and unreleased jams with undetermined song titles ("Born in Virginia" and "That first song over gain" are tentative titles, or rather, nicknames) pop up one after another. Furthermore, the incomplete "Old Age," the aborted "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" failed take, and even the tuning in between are all ingrained in your brain with this superb soundboard. The station reportedly requested "Polly" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit," but Kurt Cobain declared, "We're going to play the songs we want to play." The result is a plethora of incredibly rare performances you won't find anywhere else. This impactful soundboard album lets you replay these priceless, legendary studio sessions in your mind in the length of a single LP. It's truly a cultural heritage piece. This is a stereo soundboard recording of the "November 25, 1991: VPRO Studio Sessions." This newly discovered master boasts more than twice the length of the previous master, and the sound is completely official. This new cultural heritage album seamlessly flows into your brain with legendary studio sessions, including rare covers of THE VELVET UNDERGROUND and Leadbelly, as well as never-before-heard covers of Daniel Johnston and unreleased jams.
