Nick Mason's new project, NICK MASON'S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS, is a hot topic among FLOYD fans. Three titles of the best live album will be released at the same time. This work is the audience set of “September 6, 2018 Amsterdam Performance”, a huge volume that boasts the largest volume among the three consecutive releases. This is a masterpiece that comes in a 5-disc set, with two full recordings and a superb video version. Before we get into the details, let's first look at the show itself. SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS started in May this year and began a full-fledged European tour in September. Let's check the position of this work within that flow. ・May 20th-24th: London (4 performances) - about 3 months later- ・September 2nd-21st: Europe (15 performances) ←★Here★・September 23rd-29th: UK (6 Performances) This is the schedule that has been announced so far. We are currently reporting on the London performance in May with ``DINGWALLS 2018'' and ``PUTNEY 2018'', and the European continental edition and the first edition, ``COPENHAGEN 2018'', have been very popular. The Amsterdam performance of this work is the fourth concert of the subsequent European tour. Now, let's introduce the three records contained in this work individually. [Disc 1-2: Full Audience Recording (Recorder 1)] First of all, the best audience recording representing this Amsterdam performance will appear. This is breathtakingly beautiful. This recording was released by the Dutch recording artist ``dorenberg'', who is a master of many progressive rock genres in Central Europe. For FLOYD fans, he is a famous recording artist who is familiar with Dave Gilmore's Belgian recordings and Dutch recordings. This work is a masterpiece that shows off the skill of such a master. "COPENHAGEN 2018" was also a masterpiece, so I can't easily declare it as the No. 1 tour, but I want to. If you listen carefully with headphones, you will not be able to feel the distance at all, but this is not a drawback, but rather an advantage. While the glossy sound creates a dynamic sense of scale, it does not cloud or muddy details. Of course, if the core is sparse, it will be ruined, but there is no need to worry about that with this recording. The bass, which tends to be the weak point of the audience, is powerful, and the midrange is also responsive and powerful. The force of a heavy tank-like force approaches your ears, yet it doesn't scare you at all, nor is it sharp enough to pierce your ears. It is simply a superb recording that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the early FLOYD numbers with a robust and beautiful sound. It is the work of a master as expected, but in fact, it is not even recorded all the time. Although the original sound that appeared on the Internet was excellent enough, I felt that there was room for further improvement. After arranging each sound range, the venue acoustics were also arranged. Of course, the sound pressure was not increased as much as possible, but by adjusting it, the attack of each note became more vivid, and a dynamic sound unique to this work that approaches the front was realized. [Disc 3-4: Full Audience Recording (Recorder 2)] "Recorder 2", which follows "Recorder 1" with dynamic sound, is a close-up sound so to speak. This is already very close. “Recorder 1” also felt close enough, but even when listening with headphones, you could hardly feel the venue acoustics. The detailed recording position is unknown, but this is a close feeling as if it was recorded on stage with Nick. The stereo effect plays a role in this feeling. Not only are they in close contact, but each note is neatly separated, and the left and right panning is also super vivid. In fact, since the applause between songs is close, it is clear that there is no sound board, but during the performance, the sound is so far away from the audience that it can only be thought that it is a sound board or IEMs. It seems as if it would overwhelm "Recorder 1", but I can't say for sure. Not only can you not get rid of the beautiful sound of "Recorder 1," but this work is so vivid that it loses its sense of stability, and it feels like a limiter is applied even near the peak. This disc was definitely the king of the internet sound sources, but the remastered “Recorder 1” was also wonderful. It was hard to decide between the two, so we decided to include both in this work. [Disc 5: Masterpiece Audience Shot] I'm full of two such superb recordings, but the images of this Amsterdam performance were amazing...or should I say, it's no exaggeration to say that this disc is the real deal. Even before the show starts, we make full use of flyer images, cityscapes, and venue scenery, but what's really amazing (of course) is the show itself. This was a shot looking down from the second floor seat to the right of the stage, and perhaps because I was in the front row or because the seat was at an angle, there were no shadows from the front row, so I could only look directly at the stage. It's a truly spectacular position. That alone wouldn't surprise me, but that's what surprised me. If you pull it back as hard as you can, you'll be able to get a clear view of the entire stage, but no matter how close or close you zoom in, the beauty of the screen doesn't change in the slightest. If you get close to Nick, a close-up of her bust will fill the screen, showing the expression on her face as she mumbles the lyrics to the beat, and if you get close to the guitar, her left hand will be so close up that it'll stick out of the screen. Of course, we will cover not only close-ups but also the spectacular light show that shines in seven colors, and highlight the highlights one by one. The camera work is also really smooth and extremely stable, as if it were being used on a tripod. Although it is not the ultimate video because the three songs "Vegetable Man", "Let There Be More Light" and "See Emily Play" are not recorded, the quality itself is the ultimate video work. Two types of superb recordings and (currently) the best video of the tour. This is a masterpiece that is a collection of three records that are so wonderful that each one can be considered as a single work. With its large volume, this is a big one that will be highly recommended in this week's release rush.
